2.41: Reinf. sqd's arrive with few or no aircraft

Below is a list of sdq's due to arrive over the course of my scn.7 game, but are predicted to turn up with few or, in some cases, no aircraft. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've also noticed that some of my on-map sdq's seem to leak aircraft - the no. of aircraft in the sdq's decrease even though they aren't flying missions.

23rd BS: 2 aircraft
31st BS: 2 aircraft
70th BS: 2 aircraft
394th BS: 0 aircraft (flying B-17's, which have a replacement rate of zero in this scn.)

12th FS: 7 aircraft
44th FS: 0 aircraft
70th FS: 5 aircraft
339th FS: 2 aircraft

13th TCS: 6 aircraft
33rd TCS: 0 aircraft

17th PRS: 1 aircraft

VMSB-141: 5 aircraft
VMSB-231: 2 aircraft

VP-9: 0 aircraft

Yeah, I had the same problem in a Scen. 19 game Allies vs. the AI.

I got a group of NZ Hudsons that arrived with one aircraft...

After about 10 turns, the same squad still had only one aircraft....there were no replacements in the pool tho there should have been 10 at least...
To use your term, they were "leaking" somewhere....

That's when I decided to go back to 2.30...

I think that this is another case of "fixing" one thing and screwing up something else. I wish that this game had been left alone for 2.41 except for very small, database-related changes. It is so bad now that I have deleted it from my hard drive and played one last game of "how far can I throw the frisbee into the sewage treatment plant settling pool" with the CD.

WitP may be next.

If you are unhappy with v2.41, I don't understand why not just stay at v2.30 rather than chucking your disc?

Now the bug that drives me bonkers is the legendery pilot bug...
Dunno if this'll help or not, but I've noticed that ANY group of planes set to Naval Search will eventually start receiving these extra pilots.......take them off Naval Search and all is back to normal....
Which is why floatplanes always end up with hundreds of pilots cuz they're 99% of the time set to Naval Search...

So I reckon somethin's amiss in the Naval Search routine?

I didn't think it was but it's happening in my pbem game too - Scen 17 - from the ship avail screen - Jan 5th 43 - last turn under 2.3 - Essex - 36 / 18 / 18 /15 . By Jan 31st the Essex is at 36 / 18 / 16 / 10 . So even though she's not in theatre she's lost 7 planes . It has happened with squadrons in theatre as well but as timtom has said it seems to affect squadrons due as re-enforcements more . So for now anyways , it's back to 2.3 . I have the entire months worth of turns saved if that might help someone at Matrix pin this down . Regards ... HMcS

If you think that 2.30 was so wonderful, why did you issue 2.41?

I'll level with you, Erik. I spent 40 bucks on UV on the first day it became available. Now, I am sitting here with a game that is no more playable (and maybe even less so) than it was when I bought it two years ago.

When you people issue a patch, it piddles around with fixes and scrambles what may have been at least acceptable before.

I am dismayed that control over the design and coding has been totally lost. I keep trying, along with the people with whom I have played this game (and, for that matter, WitP), to believe in it and to derive some wargaming enjoyment from it.

Every time, it falls apart and we are disappointed. We don't believe in it anymore. Hence the trip to the sewage treatment plant. At least we got some entertainment value from THAT.

I don't understand why Matrix doesn't ask for a volunteer patch-tester...

Anyone that still plays UV would've caught the 2.40 coastwatcher bug after one turn of play....and I caught the 2.41 airplane "leaking" bug after about a week...

This Mike Wood guy seems to be all over the place....why not let a volunteer help him out?

I'd do it, but sadly I'm still on a dial-up connection......
