amphib assault then strat move away?

Does it strike anyone else as odd that after a successful amphibious assult you can just strat move those troops away?
I would expect that after combat they'd be stuck and unable to strat move, e.g. like after tactical movement. In fact, I'd think that getting off the boats would basically be a tactical movement into "rough terrain" (i.e. tanks can't move again either).

I totally agree with you. It is a problem I'd like to see fixed.

I think it represents raiding and it serves a useful game purpose in forcing a player to defend his coastlines, especially those with resources and/or factories.

In game terms, it also ensures that Japan can conquer the Southern Resource Area in the time it did historically. Japan shouldn't have to strip China or the Home Islands to take the SRA.

The part that needs to be fixed is when as the WA, you invade france early, say summer of 43, and pull your forces back, Germany goes nuts and pulls most of it troops from the Russian front leaving themselves exposed there. The AI still has troops on the border in eastern France, so you would assume that it has an estimate of my troop strength, and respond appropriatley.
We need to be able to do raids when necessary, and not have the AI go totally crazy.

The next patch is hoping to address this flaw in the AI overreacting, so that should go away.

Gary says the AI should not pull out its forces from Russia if the WA invades and pulls out in the same turn. If this is happening, please send us a save game just before the first AI turn after your raid. Send it to
2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks. As for the ability to pull out after the invasion, we did intend for this to work as it does in the game.
