Liberating Russia

I have a good PBEM game underway. I am the WA, Russia, and China. My opponent did a great job hitting Russia with Germany and Japan and crushed them. Now the WA has Japan on the ropes after winning the Pacific. WA has a foothold in Spain and Italy and controls the Med and Mideast area.
Here's the problem, I can't effectively liberate Russia. When I kick Germany or Japan from an area, my "liberators", via the game mechanics get sent back to the province their attack began. Then the Japanese and Germans simply retake it, leave one inf or militia there, and we repeat the dance. Without being able to continue deeper into Russia, liberating a large area, Russia can never get back on it's feet.

i think this sucks too and wish there was a fix for it...I'd also file the inabilty for troops to retreat across allied borders under the same category. What, no Doolittle?

A simple right click to liberate vs conq would do the trick eh?

I never realized it, but that would be a problem. I will throw my 2 bits in as well to get this fixed.
As an aside, how about also including defensive bombardment from friendly ships sitting off-shore? If I was sitting in my foxhole somewhere in the Solomon's and the Japs were about to attack, and I also had ships offshore, I wouldn't hesitate in utilizing them.

I'm not 100%, but also when assiting an allie it appears they will do op-fire vs planes flying over their territory.
I suppose this is possibly what would happen, since they would identify the planes as "not their own", but it makes assiting difficult if not impossible sometimes.

good point, yes this is true...I remember in our game wanting to bomb one of your german territories from my base in finland, flying over leningrad and was alarmed to see 9 op-fire....

This rule seems to me like the biggest problem with the game. It makes any liberation of allied territory ridiculously difficult. It doesn't always come up, but when it does it is frustrating as all heck.
I ran into it when Germany fell, allowing Russia to unfreeze against Japan. The Russians can take Manchuria and Korea and liberate Peking, but they can't get any further on the mainland liberating China because they get kicked out. The only way the Russians can help against the Japanese is to slowly build a transport fleet in Vladivostok to use against the island.
I know 2by3 is looking in to a rule change, but I'm afraid it may be difficult to pull off because separation of allies is fundamental to the game mechanics. I'm curious what they are thinking of...
