If the Soviet player can take Turkey and Northern Persia (as long as he thinks a German drive to the Caucasus is not immminent), is it worth it? Do the few gained resource points help? Thanks.

I wouldnt mess with Turkey, too many troops. Northern Persia can be a good idea, especially if the English take the south. You can use it to move supplies over land that way. Its better to have the WA declare war at the south and move in the Russians when they get unfrozen. It costs 10 supply for the WA to declare war, but there is nothing better to do with supply before USA enters the game. SU on the other hand needs every bit of supply they can get their hands on.

Actually, I think Russia should take both north and south Persia, as those resources would otherwise go as free trade to Germany, and Russia is resource short, something the wester allies are not.

An additonal benefit of persia, is that the wester allies can always send supply there, which means that they pay for the repairs (and probably more).
