D/l & install when fine.

Started game; entered name; selected yes for tutorial:

what I'm guessing is probably 1st campaign game started; got 2 dialog boxes about destroying the hive; normal game procedes.... isn't something supposed to happend here, like tutorial instructions? [&:]

Just loaded it up here, clicked on Single Player, Start Campaign, Reach for the Stars Campaign and checked the "Tutorial Messages On" box and started. The tutorial came up and messages showed up normally. Let me know if this works for you.

Actually I ran into the same issue when I got my copy (sometimes I have to wait just like everyone else...). I thought I hit the wrong button and went back to the tutorial manually and it worked... Now I am thinking it wasn't just me

I had that problem as well.

When you create your first User, it asks if you want to start the tutorial and then throws you in a fight with the Hive with no help... Really frustrating...

I decided to start the campaign and figure things out myself - and the tutorial starts... Wierd setup...

Another problem I have is that as I complete each campaign scenario, the game crashes to desktop! It seems to save it OK before that though as I'm able the start the next scenario by loading the save game. But it's really annoying...[:@]

However, it's a great game and I'm having fun so I'm (mostly) happy [:)]

Using your approach I completed the 1st tutorial. Murphy's Law struck again however. The 2 tutorial now ctds after about the 4th dialog box...

I've been working with Alex tonight who has been investigating this and I think we have both issues resolved. At this point I believe the fixes will be posted tomorrow afternoon as I need to get some sleep. Sorry for the inconvenience, these seem to have been related to a few file name issues, nothing more complex than that. If you want to give it a try yourself (I make no guarantees, but this should fix it):

Change the file names of the following files in the /Campaign folder:

"Reach For The Stars Campaign.cam" - Becomes "1. Reach For The Stars Campaign.cam"
"Episode 2 Enter the Klaa'Keen.cam" - Becomes "2. Enter the Klaa'Keen.cam"

I did the renames but looks like Murphy bested you again!

That fixes the previous problems, but now trying to load a saved game gives a "Campaign Reach for the Stars not found"

Yes, that's most likely because you renamed the file that the save was looking for. After renaming, you should try starting a new campaign and seeing if those saves work.

Renaming the files before starting RFTS, allows the tutorials to play correctly as well as stop you having to start with the Hive scenario (which is third step of tutorial from memory).
