Hi all,

Steven (speedy) as Japanese and me as Allied.
We have a longer history of PBEM gaming starting with a game of WIR [8|]- which I lost - so we know some tricks of each other. Lets hope that most bugs have been removed from this great game.

Some minor house rules:
active ASW hunter groups are limited to 5 ships each
restriction on RR movements
no sub commandos - maye just one small raider visit to Wake
limited action in China ( at least in the first years), otherwise the Red flood will be activated ( maybe ) [:D]
night bombing: depends how effectiv it really is now ( still testing )

This first turn had some good moments for the Allied site [:)] - two subs hit something ( by the way sub doctrines are off !! ).
Wake holds - maybe I should try a Gambit there.

Steven was unable ( read as incompetent !!! ) to provide me with the replay of the turn, so I had to play it without it - this will be the only time this will happen - for the next time he has to replay/plan the turn !!!!

Some losses occured to my sub hunting forces around PH, but at least it stopped the bombing of the Port and A/F at PH.
I am sure that he will try to stay a bit longer around PH and next move east to find a few convoys, or maybe he will move west to help his troops with the capture of Wake island - we will see.
Meanwhile I have set loose my subforces on the Phillipines - good hunting boys !

my PT made a full surprise on his carrier group, he did not move it much. I sent three 4 PT echelons out and one got lucky [:D]
on the other hand the PTs in Manila got eliminated by his superior air-power

Repulse and Prince of Wales - I should have moved them south to Batavia through his subs. with a little luck at least one of them will make it to Ceylon.

The battle of Wake goes on, I even have two AKs moving there with some supplys and one of my carrier groups will be around at least for one more turn, the second is a bit south and will cover the retreat if needed.

Wake still holds, but now I will pull the one Carrier group from there SE and later back to PH, the other Carrier group stays hidden [>:]

The British battle group survived one more turn, with a little luck I may be able to rescue them.

The Netherland forces start to mine some sea-straits and start to put two fast reaction groups together - hopefully KB stays away a few weeks

Questions to all of you:
best position on the Aleuten for a building up a nice supply post for future raiding (=ASAP) Japan ??
defence of the South: where to build up - besides strong positions at Darwin & PM ??

My two bits...

I don't think the Aleutians are worth the effort; it's unlikely you can put enough ships and air up there to draw off significant numbers of the enemy.

In the south, build up Darwin, Port Moresby and Noumea with secondary priority being given to Cairns, Townsville and maybe Efate.

I want to try the northern approach.
As soon as Anchorage has a decent A/F and maybe one or two A/Fs for CAP I think I will try to make one or two fast raids to Hokkaido. And if he comes after me he will be inside my air screen [:D]

nasty surprise night combat in the port of Singapore - the escort did quite well but all three were destroyed - 2x DD and one CL - the CL Mauritius put up a very brave fight, and it seems to me that
the BB Haruna was hit well [X(]

Zulu sea is now cleared from all fleeing transports from the Phillipines, but one transport TF - that one that took the wrong way [:(] - was attacked by those annoying A/C of that even more annoying CVL that is cruising around there !!

Mining operations around Batavia are going on.
First Tanker TFs leaving for India and Australia.
NL subs are busy scouting around and even making a few kills.
2 ASW TFs are hunting two subs that seem to close to Batavia
NL air groups are slowly withdrawn from exposed A/Fs.

First supply TF reached PM, on one of the next turns also a few more troops will land there. In a week or so we will land a few units at GG and start to build up a base.

NZ has created a CL/DD TF which will start scouting around north of Noumea until more US units arrive.

The Carrier Group proceeds going south for one more turn, here an oiler waits - I still do not know where I should go with them, back to PH or straight to Noumea or NZ.

Good news for the British Empire: POW and Repulse seem to have escaped [:)] gue to bad weather pure luck and a bit smoke and mirrors - I moved them on a cruise back to Singapure and then to their homeport on Ceylon. Repulse is quite heavy damaged [:(] !!

Wake still holds and was supplied last turn - also an additional fighter unit from the carrier was stationed there [:D]

The Lexi will move back to PH to get new fighter squadrons ( I left those on Wake ).
At the moment three fast transport groups are on their way to Wake -with troops and supply. A large normal transport TF is loaded at the moment at PH.
Wake *will* be hold !!

The loss of a carrier this early is a major drawback for the near future. I have to be extra careful with the two CVs left.
Also the+/-60 days were not so good for the arrival dates of most of the carriers - nearly all of them will be in the game much later (between 20 and 50 days!!!)

At the moment mostly moving stuff and troops around.
Wake has now 10000 supply and 2500 fuel, additional troops and supply are on the way - in one of the next turns a AA unit will reach the island.
I have lost track of the KB [X(] - my Catalinas are not able to spot them for at least the last three turns - I hope Steven has moved them back to Japan for some repairs.

One of my two combat TFs south of Malaysia went through two hexes where I suspected ( and the A/Cs did see some there ) enemy ships, but nothing happened there [>:]

KB has been sighted near Tarakan ( 4x CV + 1x CVL ) [X(]

Steven must have moved around 4 to 5 divisions into the Phillipines - it is only a matter of a few weeks until he owns all of those islands. At least this time my B-17 hit some of his ships.

Now that KB moves into a dangerous position for my Dutch friends, I will have to move the forward air units back and a few subs to the front - maybe one of them is lucky [8|]

I have not yet seen any Nippon subs between PH and America, but still I will try to protect most of my convoys - it is important to move some of my troops to protect the shipping lines between US, NZ and AUS. I also try to move more forces up to the north.

The Brits are still shocked by the loss of the PoW. Also Repulse does not look so good ( she is in Batavia with 60/72/0 damage [:(] )
