I am not fully sure about this but: when an CAG attack triggers a CAG counterstrike, I only seem to see the results of that counterstrike.
Not of the original attack.

Is this me or has someone else noticed this as well?

I noticed that too. You can't tell what happened in the original fight if you have the combat animations off.

I believe this is a bug and is being worked on, but I did not notice it in the proposed release notes for the next release.
