Since AIRBORNE units don't have an integrated transport ability, they seem really expensive. After all, most airborne units were just light infantry units that had some jump trainings.

But in the game they give you huge benefits. A few of them can help to threaten invasion in many locations forcing the opponent to keep defensive garrisons worth a lot more on the frontline.

In one of my games they took out the Caucasus (worth 6rp) after bombing. They are also great in Battle of Britain.

I think they're expensive to reflect the cost of all those gliders, specialized equipment & elite troopers. They can be very useful but really hard to mass-produce.

Yup, I like to produce them in Italy as the Axis once I got enough subs/transports

if I recall they have the same evasion as regular infantry. at least I would think they would have a higher evasion, considering they are elite.

Well, basically they lack the heavy equipment/armor of regular infantry units, due to this having the same stats as regular infantry can be considered to attest to thier "elite" status IMO.

shouldn't that change 'durability'? not that its a huge point, but if the world standards are adjusted than it might make the airborne easy to give a single upgrade to and then increase their defense above standard infantry by 3 points(with durability being 3).

after all weren't airborne troops, even on the ground considered better fighters and even more specifically better defenders than standard infantry.

only when employed and supported like regular line infantry.

when employed as part of a paradrop, their defense ratings were pretty poor, mainly due to limited supplies and the lack of any significant anti-armor and artillery assets.
