When I toggle the map to display nationality flags I was wondering why <Cairo> and <British East Africa> are displayed to be of "UK nationality" rather than Commonwealth. Would there be any impact on AI play if I changed those to CW in the regions*.txt files? Similar things apply to e.g. <Manchuria> being displayed as generic Japanese territory - I'm pretty sure the Chinese would strongly argue against such a classification...

At a guess it's to do with protectorates vs. dominions/whatever-the-hell-we-called-the-core-elements-of-the-empire.

The difference between UK/CW has limited game effect (none if there are no factories in the area and no units start in the area). Manchuria should be listed as Japanese as it was truely a puppet of Japan by 1940. Since there is no population in Manchuria, Japan cannot use the factory to produce units, but if you change it to a Chinese nationality area you'll end up with it being treated as a captured factory which is not what is intended. Not a big deal if you change it, but there is good (historical and game) reasons why it was handled this way.

Does it mean that UN units that start the scenario in Egypt (UK) go to England or Scotland for repairs, while those that start in Cairo (CW) go to India or Australia?
