infrastructure bombing questions- maybe a bug?

Hi. A couple questons on infrastructure bombing:

First, in the combat report after infrastructure bombing there is no differentiation of lvl 1 and lvl2 damage to facotires, rail and/or resources. They are all listed as damaged. This does make sense in a way, as you can never completely destroy these structures. However, it would be nice to know what extent they were damaged.

Second, in a game I was playing with the new patch, I was bombing infrastructure elements in a province that contained no enemy units. I sent one wave of attacks in that caused lvl 2 damage to the rail and resources and lvl1 damage to a factory in the province. In order to completely destroy the factory, I sent in a fighter and bomber to mop up. The fighter ended up targeting the factory and missing, but the heavy bomber targeted the already lvl 2 damaged rail line. Is this a bug, or working as designed?

Thanks.

I've also been puzzled by some of the results of infrastructure attacks. A couple turns ago I could swear I successfully damaged about five or six Russian resources in the Caucusus, but on the map I see only two damaged. That's true two turns later, too; maybe more was damaged than I realized, and he's slowly repairing it?

Hey Grotius, I'm not sure if you were proposing that this might be an explanation for my problem, but it cannot be, as the bombing runs were done in the same turn.

I did a little testing and it seems that the bombing of lvl 2 damaged infrastructure elements to happen under a variety of circumstances (probably all) even when there are completely undamaged infrastructure elements in the province.

Yes - that happens for me too. Many times whilst bombing Chinese industry I have sent bombers in only to watch them hit train tracks or such that are already destroyed. I don't know if that is working as intended or not.

I think this is working as intended as otherwise it would be too easy to take out all infrastructure. I'll ask Keith/Gary when I can to make sure it's what they intended.

I agree with joel. as it is, its easy enough to reck havoc with undefended areas. having specific targets would make it all that much easier to accomplish.

if they 1) allowed specific targeting, then nobody would target anything but factories.

or if 2) they allowed the followup attacks to only attack the surviving resources, then you could send in a smaller attacks into many different locations and then send in the follow-ups as needed. as opposed to sending in two bombers for every resource/rail/factory as it is now, this would allow very effecient attacks of one bombers each.
