Sponsored Play by E-mail Tournament Offers Gaming and Prizes!

Matrix Games and Strategic Studies Group (www.ssg.com.au) are pleased to announce the first sponsored tournament for the new release Battles In Italy. All gamers are invited to compete for prizes totaling $200 in free games!

Sign up for the tournament at the Run5 site (www.ssg.com.au) and reserve your spot! The tournament will be played through a series of e-mail games and coordinated by Run5 volunteers. Prizes will be awarded as follows, based on final standings:

1st Place: $100 Gift Certificate
2nd Place: $50 Gift Certificate
3rd Place: $30 Gift Certificate
4th Place: $20 Gift Certificate

All gift certificates will be redeemable in the Matrix Games Online Store for the winners' choice of available games. Of course, along with the gift certificates will come bragging rights for the champions and no doubt a series of new challengers!

Battles in Italy brings the award-winning series to three pivotal battles: Sicily (Operation Husky), Salerno (Operation Avalanche), and the unfortunate Operation Shingle, the invasion at Anzio. All three campaigns incorporate many new improvements and enhancements to the Decisive Battles series. Some of these updates include rules for surrender, political units, cooperation between countries, and improved amphibious invasions!

The Decisive Battles Series has won a number of awards, including War Game of the Year from both Computer Gaming World and Gamespy, Editor's Choice from PC Gamer, and The Wargamer's Award for Excellence. The series features an operational setting with an easy to use interface. The game is approachable by beginners and masters with AI options to give either type a run for their money and an extended tutorial to help get started.
