Ftr range limitation?

I was playing a game with FOW on and wanted to use a range 1 fighter as a spotter, so I flew it into the English channel from England to see what was in the Netherlands. I understand that I was unable to take the move back as I had discovered the location of new units. However, why can I not fly the plane back to England (consuming the supply). If I launched a mission, it would fly back. If I left it out there it woould fly back and be usable on my next turn. Is this WAD?

Hummmm.
Obviously because it's Range is 1 it can't move back. But since it's in an open area (free of enemy troops) it's considered to be flying CAP. The game doesn't let you cancel an order seperatly from the "move back" feature, so that's that.
So designers, can you put in a "cancel order" order? That would end the unit's turn & such, but allow it to (in this case) return to base? Or is that too much programming for to rare an event?
Next time, use a Transport! They have 7 movement and can easily move back :P
