Mine Clearing Hints?

Anybody has any hints for the mine clearing missions? IMHO they are harder than blasting a DD, as long as you let your wingmates attack the DD first and draw the fire [:D]

But that doesn't work for mine fields, since the mines outnumber your and your entire fleet most often.

SR Missiles seems to do very little against mines, should I try rocket pods or am I stuck with using guns? Whats the best tactic? Slashing runs at max speed with FLCS Manual from 20 km to 5km and out to 20 again?

1) Take it slow. Creep up on the mine field.
2) Use Rockets and SRMs. Replace the two MRMs in the default loadout with SRMs
3) Use the Rockets first. They do track the target, so wait until the mines change from squares to circles on the radar.(under 30? km)
4) After using all of the rockets (6 kills?) switch to SRMs. Use two on a mine, I would wait ad be sure of the distance to target, as they seem to not make it sometimes (maybe thats because there fighter guided and I turn away)
5) Finally a gun kill or two, Your wingman should have killed the 6 you were sent out to get, and you can clear the other 12.

Hope this helps.

I quickly learned that going near those mines was not a good idea. You can kill them with guns but i did it like this: i outfitted fighter with rockets, approached the mines, checked my map to check that i would not stray too close to the other groups of mines that i werent sent for. I got to 20-30 clicks away and launched 1 volley of rockets, all the time staying outside of firing range of any mines, continued like this with the rest from the group, and when i was out of rockets, returned to base, thats it :)

Ok thanks. I think the problem was that I was rocketing towards the mine with the rocketpack armed waiting for a "SHOOT" cue and the rocket pack doesnt give any shoot cue.
