Alright, now that I have your attention, I have a very specialised question:

After the Battle of the Coral Sea, the damaged USS Yorktown was sent back to Pearl Harbor to be repaired. Does anybody have any idea how damaged (in game terms) she still was when she sailed for Midway?

Opinions vary. I have seen modders put her at 20 sys damage. On the other hand, according to people who were there at the time claimed that the yard had put her in better shape than she had ever been in her lifetime. So - take your choice. I haven't actually seen any performance stats about speed trials, etc. after the repairs (i doubt they had time for such). You might be able to get a clue if someone has posted a report of her log - ships tend to speed up, etc. when under attack. Max speeds during the battle would probably give a reasonable clue to her actual condition.

This is not much but for what it's worth...
I read the Captains report to CENPAC after the battle of Coral Sea where the bomb hits are described, and the damage was very superficial as far as combat capability.

I would probably say that the damage was only 10-15 sys or so and that was down 5-10 for Midway.

Alright... Thanks, guys. I was thinking of putting her around 10 to 15 sys damage: enough to simulate her being somewhat dinged up, but not enough to keep her from launching aircraft.

I seem to remember that one of the elevators was out. I don't remember which one, nor the source of the info.

But still not enough to keep her from performing flight ops. She's smoking pretty heavily in-game with only 15 sys damage.
