That is the USS New Jersey (BB 62) firing a full broadside about April/May/June 1984, if I remember correctly. Spent 3 years on that ship and never went outside for any gun/missile shoot, but have the pictures anyway. [:D]

Was that when it was off the coast of Lebanon providing ground support for the US Marines there?

Oops, you are right Slaughtermeyer, we were off the coast of Lebanon from September 83 until April 84, so if that is the New Jersey, the picture would have been taken in the Spring of 83 when we were doing workups before deployent in June. I will take Tiornu's word for it that picture is of the Iowa, though I know the NJ had pictures taken like this also. They all looked alike from above until the Navy painted the hull numbers on top of Turret 2 to tell them apart.

Nevermind...
