CHS Pre-release

Post by Don Bowen »

Following the excellent example set by Matrix with V1.5x upgrades, I would like to make a pre-release of the next release of CHS available for anyone that would like to give it a try.

All work on the scenario is complete but playtesting is a little light. There is a reasonable chance of something being found that will require some changes so I would not recommend starting a complete game with this pre-release.

However, if anyone would like to test it a bit, I'd be grateful. Just send me a PM and I'll get you a copy. If you find any problems, please post on this thread.

Don

P.S. Subchaser - I've already found some problems around the Wake Island attack. These are fixed in the Pre-Release so let me know if you would like another copy.

Drew

You would have to restart your PBEM game so I'd recommend you not do that until next week. Upgrades are a separate issue - they affect only the executable and the official scenarios, not CHS.

Depending on problems found during the pre-release we'll have CHS completely released and on Spooky's in a few days.

I think we are going to have the full, complete, we are done, version out this weekend. Maybe tomorrow.

Yup - we are about done with it. Still have to do a little checking and, of course, implement all the changes and resolve all the problems from this thread.

Probably done tomorrow - I do not know how long it will take to get to Spooky's.

Folks,

Are you able to confirm that CHS will work with the AI? Thanks in advance.

It generally does. There is apparently some randomness in the AI routines and sometimes the AI just goes to sleep. But most of the time it works OK.

However, we have a new, second version with HQ modifications and this version can not be played with the AI as the Allied Player - it can still be played with a human Allied Player and the AI as Japanese or head-to-head.

Will the first (AI capable) version go away in favor of maintaining the 'HQ mod' version?

1. Call in sick to work for the next week.
2. Have a standing order for pizza delivery once a day.
3. Move the refrigerator next to the computer.
4. Set up a monitor in the bathroom.

Having a hard time waiting. Great work. Now than I've played your beta version, going back to vanilla is next to impossible!

It will take me some time to get the scenario, make a version for my standard map, package everything and upload it. whan that gets done I will post a message.

We are thinking of keeping two versions of CHS. The original and the ANZAC/India HQ version.

The original is playable in all circumstances but the second one can not be played with the AI as the allied player. We are currently testing the ANZAC/India version.

CHS (with the restricted India HQ) has been released and is available at Spookys. A special AI version has not yet been fully defined. Ideas appreciated.

As long as you use Andrew Browns map for both regular Matrix scenarios and the CHS you do not need a second installation.
That is one of the good things about the way scenarios are defined;
every scenario uses a seperate slot so you never risk overwriting anything.

All of the files are in the CHS section at Spooky's site and also on Andrew Brown's new CHS site. I am unsure if Andrew has the final CHS release up yet however, so probably use Spooky's site.

The CHS section will give you the scenario files, Andrew Browns Map and installer, and the new aircraft and ship graphics. If you have any problems intalling feel free to email me and i can help you.

There is new CHS compatible artwork for ships from other artists but you do not need to use that to play. It is great but you can wait till you are comfortable with the basic art package first.
