I made a change in my art files a long time ago and I dont' think I saved the original. Now, trying to install the CHS, the utility wants to make a copy of the original file but won't let me advance beyond that point since the original art file no longer exists. Any way around this, or will I have to reinstall everything, repatch, etc. before modifying to CHS.

If you are talking about the ModSelect batch file, that asks about making a backup of the official art before doing anything else, then you can just agree to the backup - it will make a backup of whatever you currently have in your ART folder, which can then be restored later using the same utility. It does not matter whether what you have there is original or modded.

If you mean something else - please provide some more details.

well, I press "b" to make the backup but nothing happens. It just sits there.

You can always temporarily rename your game file,and then re-install the game to get the original file.
This done,you can then delete the "newer" file and rename the original back to the name you use for the WITP file.
