Well done Matrix youve hit on another winner here. Your stable is going from strength to strength.

SSG games.
Gray Grigsby.
Panther Games.

And several other excellent indy developers.

The biggest priase must goto CoG developers, West-Civ. Superb work here. I hope you get the success you deserve. Another Indy developer with talent. Excellent.

Here's me going on and I havent even bought the game. Seeing the posts here is enough.

My order will be in soon.

Drink up buddy!!!

It’s funny hearing how you can like a game without even having it…LoL[:D]

But I think you'll like it.
So go for it.

This is an outstanding title and I really hope it does well financially for all involved. Matrix continues to be a great company for those who enjoy these types of games, though if I am being honest I would not agree that their recent performance has been quite as superb as you contend. CoG is outstanding and is a title they can be proud of. But while the relationship with GG is clearly positive, WaW likely isn't the breakout product they wanted and for me it wasn't even fun. I have already logged far more hours into CoG than WaW. As you said though, this game is a definite winner.

Though WaW has its critics, having Gary Grigsby onboard is still good for the future in my opinion.

However thats just one possible let down out of CoG, Battles in Italy, Tin Soldiers: Julius Ceaser and Lock N Load about tobe released. To me recent performance has been very good indeed.

I never bought WaW as I knew from the Game description it wouldnt be for me. From what Ive read its exactly how I thought it would be.

Battles in Italy is a world class wargame.

They also have HTTR (Who doesnt think this is a top class wargame?). The previous SSG games. War in the PAcific (One reason why GG is good for the future).

CoTA will soon make an appearance. Two other Napoleonic game sin the works. A WEGO WW2 wargame that looks very promising indeed. The MIA Combat Leader.

The future bright, the futures Matrix.

Heh Wodin, you gonna change your tune now that you've read about the "tactical AI"?? And the ease of which it is being beaten? ;)

Erm.........maybe.

However even those who mentioned this still believe they have a great game on their hands.

Im not really a Matrix flag waver. Its the developers who do all the work. Matrix has a good eye for a game.

I will wait until the first patch. Always a good idea.

Also I dont know if EiA isnt more my bag. CoG looks so good though. Great map etc etc.

Great game. I very rarely buy a game when it first comes out, but this one I did. And printed the manual. Today I just finished my first inept game, as Sweden. Just to see what would happen, I immediately attacked Denmark. Won several battles but was unsure how to close the deal, i.e., my army is sitting there and Denmark won't have the courtesy to give up. I think I have Copenhagen under seige but am not sure. And the Danes just keep attacking and attacking and losing and losing. And then after five months the damned French march in, the Grande Armee. I abandon Zealand and retreat back to Sweden, but the French follow me. At that point I surrender, i.e, quit the game. I have no idea what I was doing, but it was great fun. Now I will go back read thru things again and try to do a better job. Like I said, great game.

LOL hahaha, sorry, but, it's funny to read once in awhile a human player that actually admits defeat against the AI. Bravo for being honest. ;)

Normal level is fairly low on the list of difficulties and I wonder if Normal is all even or if not, what level is Human and AI at an even level.

Lol, I kind of knew I might get my butt kicked and that what I was doing was poor strategy, and I was actually impressed by the overwhelming French response. Once they decided to come to the rescue of the Danes, they brought the first team. But I did learn some things from the game. One thing I learned is that you have to think about sieges; the cities don't just fall because you show up outside the walls. It would be interesting to know more about sieges.

Bring plenty of Heavy Guns and blast the walls; when a breach is made, storm the walls. If your not in a hurry, simply starve them out. Also, the greater your numbers, as opposed to the besieged city garrison, the better, obviously. If it's a port, be sure to blockade the port.

Yes, this is a very good game so far. I have only played the battles out in a limited fashion, though. I'm learning the strategic part now. Good depth to the diplomacy - not sure I can comment yet on how much you can get done with the various options available, but seems to be good. Wish there were the option to offer someone else to limited surrender to you via the Treaty screen instead of just right-click option. But that is small. Economic part seems to have potential, which is good. Trying to learn more about mods - not like I'll do anything complicated, but want to change a couple things. Did so successfully on one item so far.

Congratulations Western Civ Software!

You've won Marc Stayed Home to Play a New Game Trophy!

Yep, this game is good enough that I called in sick the first to work the first full day of work. So you've done your part in keeping productivity gains down a bit more towards the rate that salaries are increasing.

Not many games get that trophy from me. But this one is pretty amazing. To be honest I think it still needs some work. But the scope and power of the concept have me really fascinated right now! .... Thanks Western Civ and Matrix!
