Game Stability?

I've been a pretty strong proponent of this game. And I still love the design. But today hasn't been a good day for CoG. I went through the first several days following release with only one Plato/MFC error causing the game to shutdown. Yesterday, I had 2 or 3 of them - I even posted a savegame that causes them to occur without going into detailed combat. Today, however, I can't get through a detailed battle without crashing. The problem is made significantly worse by the fact that you cannot save during a detailed battle, so essentially I cannot get through an entire turn as I crash before completing the battle resolution. Rebooting doesn't seem to help. I am at a loss for why the game seemed so stable initially but now seems so shaky. The most likely conclusion is that there is something in the savegame I keep trying to play that is bugged and is causing the problem (though it is very strange that it doesn't cause things to crash until halfway through a detailed battle).

Anyway, I still love the design of this game but these stability issues are very concerning and I don't seem to be the only one experiencing these problems. Has anyone been able to play for more than 20 hours or so and not had this problem? Is it just a subset of people who have some type of compatibility issue or is the problem universal and just an indication that an otherwise good game was released just a tad before it was really ready for primetime?

I got that Plato/mfc error message once, but it occurred when I was in the process of shutting down the game so there was no harm, no foul.....so far the game has run stable for me and that includes running just fine on my underpowered Sony Vaio, 4MB memory graphics chip and all....

[:)]I have played 5 or 6 campaigns through to completion and more than twice that amount halfway through. In the beginning these Plato/MFC errors/ctd's were repeatable and happened a couple times a day, since the Gold/release version(approx. 2-weeks ago) i have had one(1) such crash in detailed battle. I managed to complete the campaign by using "quick battle", i loaded the autosave right before my battle, for the battle in question and it didn't happen again. It took 10 patches for EU2 to get where it is today and it crashes more than COG did in the beta, which wasn't very much in my case[&o].
They've managed to eliminate the repeatable bugs fairly quickly so i am confident after sorting through all new data/pc configs it shouldn't be too long. I know this may sound stupid/redundant but i noticed that if i defragged after every new version, in your case after installation, that it seemed to be much more stable.

I get the MFC error every time I exit the game, so while it's not ideal, it doesn't impact on my enjoyment of the game at all.

My just froze on me, and the only thing that I could do was move the battle map around. And the only way to get out of it was to turn off my computer. This was after a fighting a battle for 30+ minutes.

These MFC issues seem more common for some players than others. I have yet to receive a MFC crash in a detailed battle, though I am seeing them from time to time if exiting from the main map rather than the main menu. We are looking into these as a priority.
