Can Matrix games be resold?

I bought GGWaW and must confess I don't really care for the game. But it did get me thinking, ordinarily you can sell a CD but is it possible to resell Matrix games? If I post something on ebay, can I sell the game so long as I unload the game and transfer the serial number to the buyer? I don't see why not. Does anyone know the terms at a detailed level to know if there is any prohibition against such a thing?

Well if it was illegal to buy/sell used PC games, the EB games and Gamestop businesses would be sued.

I think his question is about the liscense agreement for digital downloads. Is the liscence transferable for a digitally downloaded game (the way it is for a traditional game that come on a CD)? Or is the liscence non-transeferable for digital downloads?

Having had a quick read, the licensing agreement doesn't seem to prevent it.

Matrix Games grants the original purchaser of this software package the right to use one copy of the software program. HOWEVER, it is not something I would ever do. You have no real idea who you are selling to, and if the buyer decided to stick the file (with a nice little text file with the serial number) up on PtP as far as Matrix are concerned it would be YOUR serial number. The consequences of that, I wouldn't even want to think about.

I hadn't even considered that possibility but you're right, that is a significant deterrent.

Good lord. You are talking about selling a game not classified material. If you want to sell it, sell it.

No problem selling it as far as we're concerned, but if you already registered it the person you're selling it to should understand that they will not be able to register it for themselves. It's a "used game", so much as that phrase has little meaning, people will likely not offer full price for it. Also you can always download updates through the Games Downloads page, so having it registered to someone else is not a major issue.

My only concern is that at Ebay some one is saying there selling a Russian version no box but can be loaded in English! They might what to check this out here is the URL address! Or they can go to Ebay and search for World at War! My concern is piracy issue I don't know if Matrix Games evens sells a Russian version of there game?
Edit: Definite pirated version, will be shut down.

Yes, this is the whole point---once you register the game, YOUR name is indelibly associated with it, even if you sell it. Now, if the buyer decides to do something unethical with it, like post it on a peer-to-peer network, then YOU, the seller, are still liable for this. Think about it. You are selling rights, NOT responsibility. YOU, the seller, assume responsibility for the product you sold. I have no problem with this.

Get a receipt with the buyers name on it, At that point you have NO association or responsibility.
Erik has stated Matrix has no problem with it, so sell it

There are no Russian versions. A careful reading of these kinds of things makes it clear that they are pirated. All of our games are, at this point, only in English. That will change very soon but all localized versions will be announced and available from our store. If it's not in our store, but it's on E-Bay, then buying it from E-Bay means you are supporting piracy.

If I understand right, someone took a MG title, and reversed engineered it so it would be russian? Why not get even! Take the russian version, and re-sell it as an official MG release... How are the original pirates going to complain?

I would not buy a pirated version of a game! I was letting you know that some won was selling what I thought was a pirated games on Ebay! I don't know what you can do about it but you might what to contact Ebay about the problem. I would only buy an English version of game that comes with a bill of sale, from seller and the 16 digit code to load game and the box, etc.! Go get them Matrix Games!!! [;)] Ebay does not allow piracy as policy, but I believe you need to let them know about it happening!
Sincerely,
SkyElf
