Does extended map CHS break the Japanese AI?

I am playing a game as the Allies vs. Japanese AI, extended map CHS. So far it is January 1942 and the Japanese AI seems to be doing OK....everything seems to be proceeding normally as far as conquest of the East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere goes.

I have heard that the extended map CHS breaks the AI. I can see why this would happen with the Allied AI, but does it hurt the Japanese AI as well? And if so, to what extent?

As far as we know the Japanese AI is just fine. It will probably never attack the Middle East or Panama Canal, but then the Japanese never did (though there were some plans).

We'll have to wait to be sure, it will take months for the Japanese AI to play out the original "script". If anyone sees any action against Middle East/Panama, let us know!

Good to know!

So far, CHS is a hoot! Outstanding detail. I added a couple of favorite ships of my own (US BB Wyoming and UK cruiser-minelayer Adventure) so I'm not playing a 100% strict CHS, but it is really awesome to see the variety of ships available and the different tweaks to the OOB. You guys did a great job.

So far the Jap ai seems less predictable and has more surprises than the "stock" version..
Now,instead of just "responding" to what you think it's "going to do",you need to take stock on what YOU need to do..

I thought it was the "stock" AI. CHS is just the database files changed, so the goals driving the AI play should be the same, or am I mistaken?

Unless Don has been weaving some AI magic in secret you are correct. Perhaps the changes that were made in the scenario have confused the AI just enough to make it less predicatable (merely because it end up doing some things a bit differently from the stock game) but not enough to break it?

I am running an AI vs AI game of CHS scenario 154, but I have not got very far yet. This is to test the Allied AI. When I get a fair way into the senario I will take a closer look to see what the two AIs are up to.

The observations of the Japanese AI in CHS so far is that it seems to work OK for both versions of CHS. I also know that both Allied and Japanese AI can handle my map OK with my converted stock scenarios (scenario 115 to be precise) which I tested all the way to 1946. CHS is different again, however.

I confused "AI" with opponent forces..Indeed,there is a difference..I meant to answer the original thread-creators question. No,the "AI" is not broken using CHS.[:)]
