How can I lose six war ships when attacking a merchant? I had about 15 war ships attacking a merchant and it fled the battle (as it should) but I lost 6 ship in pursuit. I think something is wrong here.[:-]

when it says ships are lost in pursuit that means the ships you are chasing lost ships...

also, don't forget, each "ship" starts out around 10 ships, so a stack of 15 ships, going against 1 ship, should really be more like 150 to 10 (depending on others losses and what not)
do agree, the wording can be confusing in some of the reports/messages

When I looked at the battle report, it said British victory and that I had lost the ships. Maybe I read it wrong I will pay closer attention next time.

I once won a sea battle where I lost all my ships. At least that is how it looked to me. Maybe I read it wrong.[&:]

If you check the "BATTLE" button during your turn, it gives a more detailed discription of what actually took place. I don't know the exact "term", but it is with the buttons that appear near the bottem of the page when you bring your mouse over them...
