negative taxes? People are pretty happy (+500) and welfare is still at the initial setting of 2. So why negative taxes?[&:]

Not totally clear what you mean, but the higher the taxes, the more inefficiency in production. Thus, the accounting shows a small or large negative number for some commodities due to taxes.

In the nation economy screen the tax figure (both now and anticipated) have negative numbers.[X(]

Isn't the negative number representative of the shortfall as opposed to the amount of taxes collected?

Hmmm, never thought of that.
I can't find anywhere in the manual where it says anything about that.
