American fleets, too. Both can kick your privateers' butts.
They are there. They don't like nations that blockade either.

American merchants. They are there there to undermine your merchant's ability to make a decent living. Move your merchants out of the same area when the American Merchant arrives and move your privateers in to encourage them to leave. That's my experience as Turkey, who couldn't care less about upsetting the Americans.

It was interesting when I played the Brits, the Americans declared war on me because of a "blockade". This overall was not a problem, exept that I had my fleets trimmed down to about 5 capitol ships because no other deep water navy was left. To my suprise I ran into a American Warfleet with about 10 capitol ships that sunk on of my proud british fleets. Had to devote a bunch of time reconcentrating a main fleet and chasing them down, and even with a full capitol ship fleet had a hard time beating them.
Very strange

Hi, I discovered the USA does not like blockades the hard way. Was blockading Prussia and next thing I knew USA fleets were sinking me all around the map.
Thats when I discovered the "offer ceasefire " option.
