We have been moved up to the front into fortified positions. Once again we are to face the Polish Army. This time we will defend against a determined enemy out to destroy us.

One heck of a thunder storm is raging. Can hardly see your hand in front of your face. If you can see 50 yards you are lucky. This is going to be an up close in your face kind of fight. It is still dark as we sit in our holes waiting for the first big explosion from the mine fields. This will be the only way we will know they have begun there push. Wont be able to see them till they are upon us. Wish this dam storm would let up.

We believe that our line is set up as strong as possible. The center is anchored by two complexes of small log bunkers. Three set south of center and 3 set north of center. There is a gap between of 200 yards where a platoon of B Co has been placed. Also a platoon on either side of each bunker. I have placed a Atg, IG or MG in the 50 Yard area of each platoon when possible. Have placed the Engineers squad into service with other squads as well. At least every 50 yd area has more then just a lone squad of infantry or MG.

Behind the front line I have set the 2 companys of tanks. Thay are back 200 yards or so as a break thru defense. Any one of the enemy that makes it thru the front line is to be cut down. There is to be no quarter given to any poles today. We are going to crush them once and for all.

I have managed to get extra supplies and they have been given out to all the companys. A very good breakfast has been ordered and plenty of water is being distributed as I write this. We know that we are superior fighters then the Poles as was shown last month. But also they are very determined to drive us out of Poland. This will be a hard and costly battle today for both sides.

The battle has been raging for more then an hour already. Seems a heck of a lot longer since the peace and quite was broken. The first explosion from the mine field ripped the morning quite apart at around 0320 hours. All my officers were standing around discussing how we were to handle the battle today. I believe all of us jumped ten feet into the air when the first explosion came. They all ran off to there respective positions even as there feet hit the ground.

The first sighting of the enemy by our men came 10 minutes after that. The left flank was hit by uhlan troopers on horseback that appeared suddenly out of the storm. They were cut down by the 2 MGs on our north flank. Just as this happened our north most bunkers at the center were assaulted by a company of troops on horse back as well. One squad got thru and took out a bunker in a frontal assault. All the rest were either cut down or retreated back into the storm.

Five minutes after the first assaults the 100mm bombardment started and has not quit since. First it was directed primarially at the far north. Then every thing was directed at the center on the bunkers. Every so often a 155mm drops some rounds in on us. Also in the last half hour 60mm have begun to fire. We have lost 2 MMG and a HMG to this intense fire.

The assaults on our lines has not abated since the first shots were fired. Seems to be a very heavy concentration at the bunkers and the very far north of our lines. The mine fields have been going off almost constantly since the first one did. About 15 minutes ago the first tanks appeared on the far north flank as well. The Engineers blew up 2 there but three managed to get around to the rear . These were taken out by the platoon of tanks with no losses to our side.

Couple of squads got thru where the bunkers are and the tanks behind them cut these men down as well. Lost a Pz IIc to an ATR I had rushed to shore up the left group of bunkers. The noise is deffening right now. Makes it hard to even think let alone fire a rifle. I admire these men for what they are able to go thru and still function.

The enemy has retired from the field. They are moving to the rear with haste. Once again we have handed them a shelacking. This was definatly a decisive victory for us. There losses are estimated to be 1012 men killed 2 artty and 20 tanks destroyed. Our losses were very slight today mostly from artty. We lost 109 men 1 artty and 1 tank. Also 1 bunker to a very brave Polish squad in a suicide assault. They tried hard but came up against a much better equipped and supplied Army today.

We are to entrain and move back into Germany very soon. Where we are to do some heavy training. Our work is done here in Poland for now. Will be good to get home and see my friends and family. Hear we will be in reserve until some time next year. I wish this war would end but if I know the politicians this is just the start of it.

Have heard that my old friend Rokert in command of the Grenadiers is moving up to make an assault on Krakow later this month. I wish him luck and a speedy victory. If he succeeds it should end the war in Poland. If there is anyone who can end it.
