More importantly, I think Rangoon is some 20 miles inland from the Gulf of Martaban. There is some kind of water way that leads up to Rangoon but I don't think it is not as wide as this water way appears. However, I could be wrong.

Oh yeah... I just looked up Rangoon on Google maps, and there's a very wide river that runs from the sea to the city. Also, it runs north-south, not west-east, as seen here.
