your list is just about my list prof.
I will always have a special interest in Midway though. Only film my dad ever took me to, way back when it was in local theatre so many years ago.

I'd add "The Enemy Below" to that list. You might also want to consider "The Bedford Incident".
I'm torn between "The Cruel Sea" and "The Enemy Below" as to which is my #1

How could I forget 'The Enemy Below'? Curt Jurgens gives a great performance as the stalwart U-Boat captain and Robert Mitchum is also great as the American Destroyer captain. My favorite scene is at the end, when Mitchum and Jurgens are standing at the stern of the American ship and Mitchum tells Jurgens that '. . .next time I won't throw the rope.' to which Jurgens replies, 'I think you will.'.

All above are good movies, but let me add the following:
"Corvette", "Fighting Lady", "Run Silent, Run Deep", "They Were Expendable" and last but not least the "Victory at Sea" TV documentary series.

I'm glad you added 'Victory at Sea' Chief! The score to that series is also one of my favorite sound tracks. Very inspiring!

I would add (to all the great movies already named):
Corvette K-225 (1943) About a Canadian WWII anti-submarine ship. Stars Randolph Scott.)
They Were Expendable (1945) John Wayne and PT Boats--what more could you want (Although a lot of it takes place ashore.)
The Caine Mutiny (1954) Maybe a little off subject--but a good Naval movie none the less.
