Production Problems

The numbers of maximum production and unused production are not showing up in my game. I am new to the game and I have only played China for about 2 years but I figured that I should have production capabilities from day one. I have the human production box checked at the beginning of the game and it is still checked during the game. Could anyone tell me how to get this to work? Thanks.

China has very limited production at the beginning, until Japan invades an inland province. It only gets production every third turn, so the other 2 turns show up as you describe.
Try playing Russia, it's boring at first, but gets fun once the Germans invade! At least you get to see some production.

I believe I tried playing as Germany and I didn't get any production in the first round. I'll try again and see how it goes.
Also, I have produced units as China but I have never been able to choose which ones the season before. It automatically chooses for me and I can't change the unit that is being made. It won't let me right or left click on the unit that will be produced.

This may also be related to a non-production turn as China. Do you get this problem when China can build?

This is because those units were either "in production" already or damaged units being repaired. With only 1 factory per province, it's tough to build anything, even after full production is readhed.

Make sure you're clicking the arrows to change to the factory location. The over production defaults the first time you go to the screen and it shows all units in production and if I remember correctly (I'm at work) you can only produce supplies there. You have to click the down arrow even if you have just one factory and then you can build what is allowed.
