Game Crashes

I have just purchased War in the Pacific (1.50). I have dowloaded upgrade 1.60 and installed. The game keeps crashing. The crash seems to be random. sometimes it will crash when I click on the done button for animations or reports and sometimes it crashes when I am in the Taskforce, Base or Aircraft window. I have attached my DxDiag file.

cheers

Gary

Try the interim sound patch. Mine use to crash on animations as well (even with 1.60). When I downloaded the interim sound patch it was fixed. The thread for the patch is located at the top of the "War in the pacific support section.

rename your SOUND directory to NOSOUND to completely remove sound from the game and see if it clears up.

If not, next step is to check overclocking. WitP runs your machine 100% flat out, if you have any weak spots, they will most certainly show up here.

Grab, just a FYI, the game is rock solid. Try looking to upgrade your video or sound drivers to the most recent versions, also if you installed the game with anti-virus software running it may be corrupt. The ONLY time I ever get a crash is if I save the game and exit out of save screen a split second after the game saved message displays and that is very rare. Hope you have some luck finding the problem with your machine, this game simply is the best war sim around. [:)]

I agree. But I think Witp is terribly under-rated. Probably because most people living in this fast paced world have extremely low attention spans(Doesn't make them stupid btw). They don't want a complex game that requires thought and intelligence. They want an incredibly easy and repetative game they can just jump into right away. It's to much to have a video game that'll always deliver something new and challenging, they wanna do the same thing over and over.

Take warcraft 3 for example, I play it about once a month. There's this one easy custom made map that most of the players (about 70%) have been playing over and over and over for the last 2 years, playing almost no other maps. Whenever a new map comes out that takes alot of mental skill and intelligence it usually doesn't do very well.

I have the latest drivers installed on my system. I am now trying the game with the SOUND files renamed NOSOUND.
