Ok guys, what is your favorite scene from a war movie? Not favorite movie. The movie can be horrible but have a good scene. Mine is in "Gone with the Wind" when the camera starts on a wounded confederate soldier than zooms out, showing more wounded at a rail station then ends with all that carnage with a tattered confederate flag in the picture.

Mine is from 1941, where Captain "Wild Bill" Kelso is trying to shoot down General Stilwell's aide and his date over the strees of LA.

Mine has always been from Battle of Britain where Galland replies to Goering's offer of assistance with a request for a squadron of Spitfires..

John Wayne...."The Green Berets"......tumbling out of a crashing Helicopter, stands, looks around and says...."That man needs attention"

I love the Duke....but that scene always makes me spit out soda through my nose.....i can litterally hear the groans coming from combat vets the world around.

In Gallant Hours where James Cagney, playing William F. Halsey, and he's just recieved his promotion, he removes his old star's and hand's them to an aid saying " gives these to Dan Callaghan and Norm Scot's widows, because they earned me my new ones." That is so cool!

The very first scene in "Saving Private Ryan". The part where Tom Hanks is riding in the landing craft and things just go to hell. I was literally on the edge of my seat watching that movie. The opening scene really set the tone for the rest of the movie.

Battle of the Bulge when all of the young Panzer commanders sing Panzer Lied. Great stuff.

The final scene in "in to end all wars" is the PC choice.

For humour - Kelly, Oddball and Big Joe fronting th Tiger to the good bad and ugly theme is good, but SPR opening and the retreat from the t34s in Cross of Iron are better in serious terms.

It is not senseless! It's about defeating evil when evil needs to be stopped. Applies today as much as it did in 1944.

The helo attack in "Apocalypse Now". They did it for real, fake pyrotechincs and all. No CG at that time. I remember seeing it on the big screen as a youngster and I was physically stunned. Beated anything in "Star Wars" in my book.

When Trumpets Fade, the 88 German AT being assaulted by a US Flamethrower squad, and one squad member panicking and being shot at for not listening. Freak![:o]

"Walter Defends Sarajevo", Yugoslav movie about resistance against Germans in WW2 Sarajevo. For the whole movie, they try to catch legendary leader of a guerilla fighters in and around Sarajevo, codenamed "Walter" but he always eludes them. In the end, departing German general stands with his new replacement on a hill, overlooking the city. New one inquires him about Walter and how they failed to catch him, and the old one thinks a bit, then points towards Sarajevo:
"Sehen Sie diese Stadt? DAS ist Walther!" (See this city? THIS is Walter!)

Septic calling I think it was from Angels one five hes dying and they are all in tyhe ops room talking to him.

I also like the Longest Day when they relieve Pegasus Bridge

Alright Full Metal Jacket the whole movie. Nothing beats boot camp and the DI played by Lee Emery who I believe was a real DI hired to provide technical advise and then said he could do it better. Anyone here know if the beatings portrayed in these scenes actually happened remember this was the late 60`s recruits would have been little more than maggotts [:D][:D][:D]
