My saves worked, as far as I can see. But I had a few crashes back to main menu. After restarting the game it went away, though.

The save function in detailed combat is very nice. Now one doesn't feel the urge to "play quickly or stay up for the most of the night" any longer.

Alleluiah ! [:D] The patch corrects the systematic CTD I had when right-clicking on armes (t'was a killer ...). If the detailed battles are fixed also, the game will become really good ! [&o]

I just miss a proper economic management screen ...[X(]

Actually, I believe some economics fixes are coming in the next patch. They said they wanted to solve some of the crash problems and provide saves during detailed battles first since those items were impacting a lot of people. This patch appears to accomplish those high priority goals so now the focus will shift to doing a larger and more comprehensive patch that addresses many of the other feedback items. From my perspective, that seems like a fairly reasonable plan.

I guess saved games, where you were in the middle of Multi Provence glitches, cannot be corrected midgame so I'll try a new game and see if they have been resolved....

In a post yesterday Erik indicated that while progress had been made against the multi-province bugs, they had not been completely eliminated. I believe they found that while some things could be solved fairly easily, others were more complex. And so, they decided that it was not worth holding up the patch any longer and that they would rather get the crash fixes and detailed battle save functionality out to us and then do the remainder of the multi-province fixes as part of the next patch. Again, I think that sounds pretty reasonable to me.

From the readme this looks like a great patch. Thanks a lot for listening Eric & all. Can't wait to give it a whirl over the weekend.

Thanks for the update as I missed that post.

And Hey! On a totally inconsequential note, has the picture of the two pretty maidens that would quickly flash during the opening artwork montage, been eradicated? Either I'm seeing things or the fair damsels have been replaced by a blackout screen!.....[:D]

The AVI file flashes a bit when it starts to load, sometimes revealing the area behind it: viz. the area with the two pretty maidens. (They happen to be, by the way, the Allegories of Victory.) To make this flash look more like a flash and less like a subliminal message, in 1.1 I inserted the following two lines of code into the routine that draws the main menu screen:

// black rectangle
pg_MainBk->pVB->SetColorRGB(1,1,1);
pg_MainBk->pVB->DrawRect(TCoord(80,196), TCoord(1024-80, 768-89-60));

You can still choose to see the maidens by looking at the credits.

The save function in detailed combat is very nice. Now one doesn't feel the urge to "play quickly or stay up for the most of the night" any longer.

Now that just plain ain't true. With it working, the urge to "stay up for most of the night" is far far worse.

So true. Almost 3AM here. I really do need to go to bed now.

Half past two for me this morning before I finally saw my bed... Do you think I can sue WCS or Matrix for lack of sleep...?? [:'(]
