Next time a nation surrenders to you, save the game and run an experiment please.

Do not negotiate the terms of surrender ... just leave it o/s and monitor your stock piles. In particular watch your treasury ... fiddle with your tax rate .. nothing seems to change.

I had tax rate set to zero and my balance did not move???? Military upkeep was 600+, tax income almost nil, amount in treasury stayed at 15 for years.....

I turned about 12 provinces from captured into protectorates ... no effect upon my stock piles.

I built nothing, and had every single unit on forage, and my balance never changed.

Anyone else noticed this?

That's very strange... I'm not sure that outstanding victory points has anything to do with the economy. Would you mind very much zipping your save game files and sending them to me at ericbabe@west-civ.com?

Hi Eric, I am not sure if I have a pure save or not, I will check.

One problem in monitoring the situation is the "limited space" in the reports... I frequently find that Economy and Supply are incomplete when your empire starts to peak, and the same is true for glory and morale histories, the last few turns are frequently cut off/missing from the displayed report .... I guess this is down to file size...

I shall see what saves I have left..

One of the changes for the next version involves a fix to the report size limits. Very large amounts of report text were corrupting the report save file.
