I'd agree with you, but I don't think the Chaffee had a track skirt

It is a Chaffee, fitted with a British style sand skirt. Some US Shermans were fitted with them, so I don't see why a Chaffee couldn't be.

Okay.

The only US tank I found that has a skirt similar to whats in the picture was an M-26 Pershing, and thats no Pershing.

I've seen a few pic's of Chaffee's with skirts. This is definately a Chaffee on a pontoon ... I'd guess Korea

How do you know he was asking about the M-24 Chaffee? Perhaps, he meant the pontoon bridge?

Heh! I guess you're right there, but pontoons aren't as 'sexy' as tanks are. Tank is a Chaffee. I'm guessing the location is Korea. The pontoon is, well, a pontoon [;)]

Actually, it's a ferry, not a bridge...

A pontoon tank ferry (fairy)? That would make the tank a Tinkerbell.[:D]

Though I too think its Korea, it could be a river crossing in Germany in 1945. Chaffees were also used in Indochina/Vietnam

What seems odd is that there does not appear to be any concern among the engineers as to coming under fire. Matter a fact the big guy leaning on the tank has his boots bloused. Must be the big cheese.

Looking at the hills in the background I'd say that was Korea. A look at the uniforms pretty much confirms that (although the 1945 pattern uniform looked a lot like what was worn in the Korean War, and some O.D. wool was still worn in Korea also).
And - yes tank is an M-24.
The M-24 was the only tank we deployed to Korea initially in 1950, though it's shortcommings vs T-34/85s was soon demonstrated, and late model M4A3E8s as well as M26/M46s were deployed there as well.
