"Bug" report

First, I have quit playing this great game because of the problem with waste. I had no money but managed to build some Banks and got 300 more money per turn, it increased my waste with 300..... so I quit. When the patch for this comes I will continue because it is a very good game.
Besides this.
Sweden cant build Lancers no matter what.
Fersen was a Swedish diplomat not a Russian.
Every time I quit playing I get an error message, I think it was for graphics, I could post it if you havent seen it.
I strongly object to the notion that Finland was a Swedish protectorate, Finland and Sweden was one country in every sense of the word. Have you really checked this?
As a defender I should be able to set up my troops, and I should be able to know at least the direction my enemy is in on the battlefield, as it is now I´m not sure which way to turn.
Privateers should be able to run away from everything but the frigate.
Heavy ships should be more rare, more powerful and more expensive. I assume they are 3 deckers and in that case there were not that many around.
There is som kind of bug with production in Nurnberg, every once in a while my units in production vanished.
You fixed the bug with generals never appearing, havent tested it though, good, because I played sweden for many games and never got a general even though I played many large battles.
I can choose my earlier upgrades but then the computer does this for me? Why is that.
I dont understand the limit on how much you can store. Food, wood, labor, textiles yes, money NO!!! its not as if money goes bad on you, Iron is the same story, almost. At least do something about this.
Diplomacy concept isnt working after, say 10 years, no alliances are made with anyone, not just me the computer players are the same way. In reality Britain paid for many alliances to be made against the one who is strong at the moment, in the game this never happened.

I have completed plenty of games with different country and I've never had a cashflow problem I couldn't solve. Are people building up too many armies?
As a defender I should be able to set up my troops, and I should be able to know at least the direction my enemy is in on the battlefield, as it is now I´m not sure which way to turn.
The direction of enemy troops is apparent after some experience - you always deploy closer to one edge of the field, the enemy is in the opposite direction.
Privateers should be able to run away from everything but the frigate.
Unless they are asleep, surprised, outnumbered, caught from several directions, or badly lose the weather gauge. Otherwise I agree [:D]
Heavy ships should be more rare, more powerful and more expensive. I assume they are 3 deckers and in that case there were not that many around.
There aren't many around. They don't cost a lot more money but they do take a lot more materials to build, not to mention time. Plus they have a lower initiative than regular ships. Either way, you can modify master.txt in your Data folder and make them cost what you wish.
I dont understand the limit on how much you can store. Food, wood, labor, textiles yes, money NO!!! its not as if money goes bad on you, Iron is the same story, almost. At least do something about this.
Money does go bad for you. No country can afford to keep a huge cash reserve in real life. Try running the U.S. and keep 800 billion in the bank "just because".
Anwyay, try to separate your opinions as how the game should play with actual gameplay bugs, which you should post in the bug forum. What happens is a bunch of people will start arguing about Heavy Ship costs and your actual bugs will get lost in the mess.

Why should a privateer be able to outrun anything? Isn't a privateer an occupation and not a ship, so theorhetically these guys can be on whatever ship their mercenary owner had? Not owning the game (yet) I wouldn't know, but does the game model privateers as being in a certain type of ship?
Just curious about your reasoning.

QUOTE - I have completed plenty of games with different country and I've never had a cashflow problem I couldn't solve. Are people building up too many armies?
I think I had 7 armies and 13 Corps, with provinces all over Europe I wouldn´t say thats to much. I´m just saying that if I make 300 more all of it shoulnt go to waste.
QUOTE - The direction of enemy troops is apparent after some experience - you always deploy closer to one edge of the field, the enemy is in the opposite direction.
True, but I still think that I should be able to deploy sometimes since that was the case at many a battle.

I still think they should be more powerful and expensive, but thanks your answer takes away some of my disagreement

True, but I still think you should be able to store more, how is england otherwise going to pay for alliances.

I agree, but I looked around and couldnt find it.

Privateers had usually small fast ships who had privateer letters made out by nations, the only thing that separated them from pirates. Some might have had ships as large as a frigate but most were corvettes.

Fersen shouldn't be a Russian... which scenario is this?
Are you playing 1.0 or 1.1?
I strongly object to the notion that Finland was a Swedish protectorate, Finland and Sweden was one country in every sense of the word. Have you really checked this?
I thought it was a Duchy within Sweden, even before the Russians turned it into a Grand Duchy. We went back and forth on whether to make Finland a protectorate or no. In game turns, a protectorate represents several different types of loose political control (for instance, Serbia is a protectorate of Turkey in the scenario after the Russo-Turkish war, although Serbia was not really a protectorate in any literal sense of that word.) It is true that the economy and politics of Finland was dominated by Swedish speakers living on the coast of Finland. One or two other players also thought Sweden should start out owning Finland. We may make it a conquered country in the next patch then.... Finnish nationalism was not too far off...1835 or so.
The opposing troops are always located in the general direction that your troops are facing.
The ship numbers are based on data we found in Hathornthwaite. We made some cutoff as to which SOTL's would be heavy and which regular ships. It was based on number of guns, not decks.
Stockpile limits aren't meant to model spoilage; neither are resources really meant to model big piles of wood and big heaps of iron. They are rather intended to be something more like sectors of the economy and economic activity -- which cannot really be stockpiled indefinitely. I have written many more details on economic stockpiles and their rationale within the game; you could search my posts on the forum to find these.
Your other bug reports seem to be issues we had in 1.0, excepting the lancer bug, which seems to persist for some nations in 1.1.
(By the way, if you don't mind terribly much, in the future it would be helpful if you would post bug reports in the Support section at the top of this forum. It helps keep all these reports in one nice handy area for me. Things posted in this area tend to get lost amongst the chatter.)
Thanks for your interest and for the reports.
Best,
Eric

Wow, how many troops did you have in those armies ?, how many provinces ?
I have had a couple of games where I had 80+ provinces, and I didn't have that many Armies/Corps
I know when France gets over 1,000,000 men it gets HARD to feed and pay them

Answer - Sweden 1792
Are you playing 1.0 or 1.1?
Answer - 1.0

Answer - You are not totally wrong, but I would still say that they were more part than a protectorate, an example of this is that Finland had been part of Sweden since mid 15th century.
The opposing troops are always located in the general direction that your troops are facing.
Answer - True, but shouldnt you still be able to deploy sometime? If its not to hard a feature to incled that is.
The ship numbers are based on data we found in Hathornthwaite. We made some cutoff as to which SOTL's would be heavy and which regular ships. It was based on number of guns, not decks.
Answer - I still feel that not a lot of ships had more than 74 guns, most having 64. Ships with more than 90 were very rare.
Stockpile limits aren't meant to model spoilage; neither are resources really meant to model big piles of wood and big heaps of iron. They are rather intended to be something more like sectors of the economy and economic activity -- which cannot really be stockpiled indefinitely. Answer - Im not suggesting that you should be able to stockpile as much as you want, I just disagree on the numbers, iron and money should be higher, thats all.
Your other bug reports seem to be issues we had in 1.0, excepting the lancer bug, which seems to persist for some nations in 1.1.
Answer - If I can get a guard cavalry in 1.2 than it doesnt matter:)
(By the way, if you don't mind terribly much, in the future it would be helpful if you would post bug reports in the Support section at the top of this forum. It helps keep all these reports in one nice handy area for me. Things posted in this area tend to get lost amongst the chatter.)
Answer - Sorry, just didnt know where to put them, will do so from now on.
Conclusion - Thanks for your answers, and I just want to say that its a really good game, I just cant stand the waste part of it, the waste is to high. As I said if I get 300 more money, it shouldnt all go to waste. Looking forward to 1.2 and a great game.
Thanks for your interest and for the reports.
Best,
Eric

Ok, question answered
IMHO you are paying the price for having a force 15 times your original starting army. You need to do more with less. My advice is an optimum force size is an army that can stomp your second-strongest neighbor and half that force in reserve. As the Swedes you have a high morale army. You should be able to expand at a decent rate with something like 2 Armies and 3 Corps for quite a long time in '72. The Russians will rush you, but terrain and your morale should wreck their ride with a force 1/3 the size every time.
If you feel a big ruckus coming up you can build up, but after the war make sure you transfer men out of your worst units so they can be disbanded and you can save upkeep.
Don't build so many armies and corps either - not every division needs to be attached. You can rotate container units between battles and reinforce them with individual units - army/corp upkeep is nightmarish.
Sweden can do quite a lot with a much smaller force. They're my second favorite to play when I'm not busy spreading the word of the Prophet.

The year is 1810 or something and I have provinces as far down as Rome, Prague, Minsk and Strasbourg. All in all 30-35 provinces and the Brits, french and austrians dont like me much so im fighting on all fronts from time to time thats why I feel the need for such a large army.
Q The turks are strongest and manage to have a standing army, several actually, on forage in one territory of 1000000 men, how is that possible?

My army is something like 1,7 million, but I keep getting these militia units that I dont know what to do with, probably 500' in the last five years or so. Any suggestion?
Since I quit playing because of my view that the waste issue has to be resolved I have not played since before 1.1 came. So as soon as 1.2 arrives I´m all in again.

1,7 ? wow
my biggest army was 1.2 and I had 80 provinces
I believe, if you have a fudeal level of 0, you will not get levies
you need to get your milti units turned into Inf, or kill them off
hmmmmm
