Troops getting better or morale just going up and down ?

eI have had the game for a week now and think it is great but there are some things I wonder about.

- Morale seems to go up and down dependeing on cirumstances which is totally understandable, but the quality of the troops is fluctuated together with it ? As I understand it I only have an elite unit when the morale is high (say a regular infantry for example) but some battles and years after the very same unit can have an extremely low morale but shouldn´t the unit be experienced even if it is has a morale drop ?

What I don´t like is the lack of personal attachment to the elite troops that normally are part of this kind of strategy games. I mean morale of a unit is one thing and quality of a unit is another but in CoG it is baked into the same very value, right ?

Welcome to the forum!

You can adjust the morale of your draft, the pool from which your replacements are drawn. These adjustments are made on the economics screen.

I appreciate your answer but I didn´t mean that. I know I can adjust the morale of my troops from my draft pool. I know troops have a chance to get .1 in moral increase after each combat as well. But morale could be broken by the unit being routed. That could happen to even the best of troops realistically. What I don´t understand is why Morale is not separated from experience. It gets confusing and you don´t have any good core units to keep alive since if your´re unlucky the morale of them could be decreased by loosing battles, bad upkeep ? etc...but still...they could be experienced and good veterans, right ? That is not reflected in the game.

There have been a few threads discussing morale/experience and trying to work out why some units appear to get "stronger" during times of peace, while at the same time others appear to "degrade".

As far as I can remember no one has provided a cast iron explanation of exactly what is going on yet.
