the Magic Wand for future releases

I've seen the "magic wand" thread in other Matrix game forums so I thought one may be appropriate here since the developers appear to plan on further releases.

I don't have many magic wand suggestions at this point because I think the game is awesome already. But the ones I do have is for the game to include either one of two features that are a part of other games I enjoy playing.

One is an encyclopedia of weapons like they have in SPWAW. This game has an excellent library of vehicle, artillery, etc. graphics (color silhouettes) and technical data for most weapons used by all the forces of WWII. It could either be accessed via a pop up dialog box or a full screen swap.

The other possibility is to use either a free area of the side menu or a dialog box to pop up color graphics of a units predominant weapon ... like they have in Panzer Campaigns. There are many graphics of Tiger I's, Sherman Firefly's, etc. that would help reduce the abstract nature of these games.

One of my suggestion CotA will have, is the addition of appropriate vehicle graphics in the Equipment tab on the side menu (tanks instead of truck images for Mk IV's, Panthers, Shermans, etc.). I know there were many suggestions by others of a more complex nature than my fixation on graphics and player immersion. This game is going to be awesome. I've even gained more admiration for HttR since I started following the CotA development. I play HttR all the time now ... in preparation for the CotA release.

I know these suggestions I described are "pie in the sky" stuff, but its fun to fantasize.

I do find the SPWAW encyclopedia very useful and, infact, an interesting read! The inclusion of something similar in future releases of the HttR/CotA engine would be great. It does help with immersion when you feel get have gotten to know the weapons being employed and their advantages and limitations.

In a perfect world I'd like to be able to right click on any entry in the equipment tab and be taken to the appropriate page of the encyclopedia.

While we're talking fantasy.. imagine a 3d landscape. I'm not talking about turning the game into a Age of Empires RTS here.. but something like memory map are doing;

http://www.memory-map.co.uk/software.htm

Imagine seeing the counters on something like that.. admitedly not something a WWII general would have access to though.

hank,

Re your encyclopedia suggestion. Incorporating the Equipment estabs is high on our wish list but did not make it for COTA. We'll see what we can do for BFTB.

Re more informative graphics for equipment types. Done and in COTA. Check these out.

Excellent!

But the graphics for motorcycles and jeeps both look like trucks

Arjuna, is there anyone working on the motorcycle, horse drawn wagon, and jeep graphics? If not, I can take a stab at them if you let me know the size/format you need them in.

Love the new symbols, especially the APC graphic (eg. Bren Carrier). It gives me pleasing flashbacks to the motorised infantry unit symbol used in the first WW2 strategy games I played in my Speccy 48k days: Arnhem, Desert Rats and Vulcan.

Yes, those graphics are great. I've been keeping track of that since it was one I mentioned many moons ago.

... and I understand what I suggested would not be in the next release ... that was "pie in the sky" "magic wand" stuff that floated through my gray matter.

Thanks mucho grande for all your work improving an already awesome game.

Arjuna forgot to add that the full Equipment Estab (i.e Encyclopedia of all weapons) with all technical details used in game is available in the scenario editor.
What is missing is the option to see it, in a more readable way, in-game.
