Despite my nom de guerre, (excuse my poor French) I always prefer to play Prussia.

Once I've reached that point where it says that Europe is alarmed at my rise, the Turks come to visit...despite the fact that they are usually at war with somebody else!

Yes, they come in large numbers and sit in my home province of Brandenburg. Not just a few of them with dangling Nikons, but hundreds of thousands.

Unfortunately since I'm at war with at least three other powers, I can't expect to off them with the 100K diehard defenders of the realm...AKA my capitol protection squad/POW keepers. I have three to four other armies wreaking havoc outside the realm....just trying to get peace so I can deal with these moustachiode (spell?) fez-wearers.

Ultimatums cause them to move their feta-loving butts sometimes, but rarely. So, seeing that they're low on cash, I cut all trade with them. They only love me for my money anyway.

Once the cash is gone, so do their depots depart...and their units begin to waste away. But they never totally go...Brandenburg can feed many souls. Yet, I have to pay for the depot that my guys have to use.

Anyway....I feel all they are trying to do is to get me to declare war....even while their men are starving like mad. This happens every game, and I find it stupid and irritating. Please make it stop, Matrix.

I would assume that because of the different wars going on, they can't declare war on you (they are at war with someone you are at war with), but they would really like to.
Theoretically, they are in position so that if the 'blocking' war ceased, they could delare on you and use all those troops. I've never actually seen this behaviour though.

I agree with you - the AI should be smart enough to pull them back rather than have them starve to death - particularly since they are only hoping for a war, rather than fighting one. Eric?

Most likely they show up in Brandenburg to support their allies -- even if there is something that prevents them from DOW on Prussia. When they've starved enough then their NML should fall low enough that their units will ignore the AI rally location; also corps/armies that have a low total strength should be ignoring the rally location in preference of heading back toward Constantinople.

I could tweak these values a bit to make the AI back off sooner, or make starving troops lower NML faster, but I'd like to look more closely at the issue before I make big changes re these rules.

I have thought, Ralegh that that was one reason they didn't declare against me....we were both at war with France. But the odd thing was that once they'd chased the French in Russia out of my country they just stopped...didn't go for Paris even though the French were laying seige to Constantinople.

And, once I'd dictated terms to Paris, they still didn't come.

I'd think having your capitol under siege and starving troops enough reason to get them do do something...besides starve.

Just seems silly behavior.
