Weren't they part of the Soviet Navy, for domestic secuity?
Let me correct that, The Desantnik were suppose to be the equivalent of the US Navy Seal.[8|]

Erm, Desantnik means "paratrooper"...
EDIT: Strictly speaking, it doesn't, since there's such a thing as a Tankodesantnik, but I've forgotten the full title. I meant paratrooper.

They were Soviet Navy Special Forces.
I also remember them functioning as internal security forces.
