Gday Guys, I'm playing the latest CHS scenario 115 on Andrews Standard map.

Firstly, great work guys, if there wasn't a road from Port Moresby to Lae I'd say excellent.

I'm playing against the AI, I am not a good PBM person so am best left playing with myself. I'll post a bit for each week of game time, I hope.

Standard game with Japan aided by the HARD setting.

7 December 1941(8 December down here)
IJN raids Pearl harbor, heavy damage to aircraft and shipping. 8 BB's hit with damage from 5-51, CL Phoenix gets 41 pts and Honolulu 37pts.
The usaual attackas across the Pacific with landings at Kota Bharu, Aparri, Vigan, Wake Is, Batan Is, Guam & Legaspi.

8 December 1941
I played the Allies as being in shock, apart from a bit of housekeeping I made few moves.
In China, Nanchang is captured. Guam, Aparri & Vigan are captured.
The RN sortie from Singapore to attack the Kota Bharu fleet.

9 December 1941
In the Phillipines, MacArthur decides to hold Fortress Manila and orders all troops to that point. Australia dispatches forces (by shank's Pony) to defend Cairns & Cooktown.
Force Z (1 BB, 1 BC, 2 CL & 7 DD) mash the IJN at Kota Bharu. First stricking 4 Ca's & 4 DD they sink Mogami and cause heavy damage. Later they hit the Transport fleet and sink 2 PC, 1 PG and cause damage to the AK/AP group. Repulse catches a torpedo, and on its return is hit from the air and had another torpedo. Damage is 56sys,37flot & 26fire.
Tenedos is sunkin the same air attack.

Landings at makin see it capture and despite the RN victory, Kota Bharu falls.

Wake is is under attack, but holds. The USN hits the attacking fleet with planes from a Carrier which heavily damage a number of units.

10 December 1941

Wakes holds out, send more Japs, whoops, I mean bullets.

11 December 1941
Z Force refuels and heads for Trincomalee, Repulse will stage via Port Blair.
Tarawa is invaded and captured.
The Japanese move through Central Malaya.
Australia sent 1st Bde to Port Moresby.

12 December 1941
Hong Kong(after 5 days attacks) & Alor Star(evacuated) fall.
Landings at Davao, Naga & Laoag.
Empire units fall back from Malaya, will they beat the Jap thrust through the central route.

13 December 1941
Landings at Abemama which is captured, Landings at Miri.
Both Davao & Laoag fall.

Accumulated losses, 245 Allied & 76 Japanese Aircraft
The Allies have lost 4 DD's (3 at Honkers, I forgot them) and the japs havent admitted their Kota Bharu lossses yet, only 1 DD, 2 PC & 1 AP.

After the first week things move as normal except for the Z Force success.

The Allies get their act into gear and plan the following.

Fall back to the Salween R line Burma, second line is Akyab, Imphal, Mytkinya.

Nothing is happening in the DEI, I'm moving the fleet to Soerbaja and will send transports to either Darwin or Ceylon.
Australia will strengthen its Northern defenses, plus send a force to port Moresby & Milne Bay.
Central Pacific will form a position at Baker/Howland Is and build a base to start chewing away at Tarawa/Makin.

Until something goes wrong....

For the week 14/12 to 20/12

Central Pacific. On 16/12 the USN started forming the Wake Is Relief Force, transports would carry 34 Eng Rgt & 3 USMC Defense Bn. One of the supporting Carriers have a VMF Sqn to off load. They sailed on 17/12.
US Troops landed at Howland is on 18/12 and started on the airfield & port immediatly.
After many attempts to capture Wake Is, on 18/12 the Japanese surrender, or commit harikiri or try to swim home.

Sth Pacific/SW Pacific & Australia. On 15/12 Japanese forces landed at Rabaul, heavy fighting was still continuing on 20/12.
Nauru was captured on 17/12.

Phillipines. Northern Luzon continued to be overrun, on 20/12 Clark Field was captured and the bulk of US/Phillipine units digging in at Manila. A 2 Div+ force of Phillipe Divs holds Naga against increasing Japanese pressure. In the air, USAFFE fighters have begun to take toll of Japanese Bombers, At sea, On 18/12, the PT Boats raided Legaspi and ran into a SF with 1 CL & 7 DD, 3 PT's were sunk without reply. On 20/12, the remaining 3 PT"s hit Jolo sinking a MSW and heavily damaging an ML & AP with torpedoes. Japanese forces on Mindanao are gradually cleaning up the small Allied forces.

DEI, nothinh much happening, a USN TF with CL Marblehead & 5 DD's ambushed the Japanes transport fleet at Miri and sank the sole AK.

In Malaya, the Brits managed to escape south, the Jap Division threatening them went East to Kuantan allowing to slide past. RAF Malaya put in an impressive raid on a TF and put 3 bombs into Ryujo on 15/12 and on 17/12 Swordfish put a Torpedo into her.

The US Army has started moving and is shipping 40 Inf & 163 RCT to Pearl Harbor, the USMC has 2 Marine Div & 2 USMC Para Bn on their way to Hawaii as well.

A slow period through to 15/1/42, Japan continues to pick up Islands and bases and the Allies start getting their act into gear.

The Central Pacific has seen the Wake Relief Force II head off with 163RCT plus an engineer unit to build up Fortress Wake.

A TF heading to Noumea was hit from Kwajalein and limped into Baker is where it will build a base.

The ENZED's have send a Brigade to Ndeni and started on a base there, now I'll have to find some more support after the TF terminated at Baker.

The Aussies have held out at Lae until 13/1 and instead of retreating toward PM they went to Finschafen. A Bde is just picked up and directed to Milne Bay

Fortress Singapore hasnt been attacked, and its bombers have been attriting the Japanese who want to use the corner to land at Johore Bharu.

Over Burma, the AVG & RAF have been struggling, the Jap Air Force has been using those Zeke things and losses are probably 1:1

The DEI was pretty quiet, Tarakan fell but nothing much was happening. I had a Surface TF with 1CA, 6CL, app 10DD's at Soerbaja. My Catalina's spotted a TF with Carriers but next turn couldnt find them. On 14 Jan. I decided to get out of Dodge and smash a Jap TF headed for Kuching, a day out of port (off Lombok)the skies went dark and 4 seperate sorties with up to 160 aircraft smashed them dead. I have lost CA Houston, CL's De Ruyter, Tromp, Dragon, Marblehead & Boise plus 4 DD's. CL Java is crippled and headed for Koepang. KB has headed North, its work done.

Not a good day for the Allies.[:(]

Shipping losses are Allies 24/455pts to 20/188pts
Aerial losses 684 to 546

Aces are Gies 24FG 13, Kiser 24FG 9, Rea AVG 6 & Howell 243 Sqn 6.[&o]
(Victories have been claimed by P26A, Blenheim 1F & CW21 Demon pilots)

Jeff;

Do you really expect anyone to admit to being beaten by the AI?
That is a bit like the forum members if there are any survivors of prison rape. [;)]

You will have to foreswear "do-overs" to give the AI a chance. Enjoy[8D]
