Anyone interested in 2x2 team game?

Hi all, I'm currently playing a 3x3 PBEM game as allies and would like to give a try at playing the Japanese in a 2x2 PBEM. I'm not competent to manage Japanese production so I'm looking for a partner who is either competent at it or fool enough to give it a try, as well as two players to play the Allies. Other than not managing production I don't have any preferences on what theatre I play as Japanese.

Game would be standard scenario 15, no mods, version 1.6

For settings I propose the following:

Both sub doctrines: OFF
FoW: ON
Advanded Weather: ON
Allied Damage Control: ON
Historical 1st Turn: ON
Player Defined Upgrades: ON
Vary Setup: OFF
Dec 7th Surprise: ON
Reinforcements: Variable +/- 15 Days
Turn cycles: 1 Day
Auto sub ops: OFF

Everything else: ON

I currently work but have time in the evening (US Eastern Time) to do about 1 turn per day except for the 1st turn which will probably take extra time.

Thanks, [:)]

Gary

How about just one guy to play the allies. With my MacArthur sized ego, I drink, er, a, play alone.....!

Hi dpstafford! Well, I had sort of hoped to get a 2x2 game going. Would I be pushing my luck to see if you would be interested in a 1x2 game if we can't get two players to respond for a 2x2 game?

Sure you don't want to try hooking up with a partner? Might be fun for a change. Since you are the first to respond for Allies you could be CIC of whoever shows up next. [:)]

What the hell DP, my ego is as big as yours, maybe bigger. [:D]

I'll play half of the Allies. Which half do you want to .. ahh .. (mis)command? [;)]

I think I would prefer to take the west. That is SW command and British SE. That would include Australia, DEI, PI. You would have SOPAC, CENPAC, West Coast And North and NZ. And most of the US fleet. China negotiable. Does that sound reasonable?

Sounds like we have a game! [:)]

Nomad and dpstafford (Allied) vs. Scott1964 and Gary (IJN)? I can go ahead and send the initial turn if everyone is ready. Anyone object to using slot 94?

Also what is your e-mail dp so I can send you the first turn? I assume you'll be CIC Allies? [:)]

Gary

P.S. My e-mail is GRChildress(at)aol(dot)com, Scott's e-mail is s.kime(at)comcast(dot)net

You get China, have fun. [:D]
And BTW, you get Russia too.

I need to look and see where the dividing line is between SWPac and SoPac. Line passing through Raboul and Gili-Gili?

Gary, are we using 1.6 or 1.602?

I'd like to use 1.6, and wait for an official 1.7 or whatever to come out, if there are no objections. I have 1.602 in my downloads folder, however, I'm not sure how to do this dual installation stuff and we're using 1.6 on our other PBEM. That way if an official patch follows we can hopefully update all our PBEMs at the same time. Just my thoughts...otherwise if it comes down to it I suppose I could attempt a dual installation. [:)]

Woops, turn sent to dpstafford. I hope we're going with 1.6. Otherwise ignore the turn dp and I'll send another one as soon as I can get myself upgraded.

I'm already using 1.602. It is compatible with 1.60. I wouldn't look for 1.602 to be official for quite some time as Mister Frag has taken leave to deal with his day job. Seeing that, I went ahead and installed it a couple of weeks ago.

I think we had this conversation with someone when we were creating our other PBEM and they said that if one person is playing with 1.6, then they can't play a game on 1.602--unless I'm remembering the discussion incorrectly. One of the players in our other game was, for whatever reason, unable to play with 1.602, so we opted for 1.6 in that game. Therefore it sounds like I'm going to have to do a dual install.

How do I do that, just install WitP again only in another directory?

Gary, that is what I do. I have 4( well now I will have 5) witp games installed. I use a new install for each game I play.

BTW, I had a game where my opponet upgraded to 1.602 and I was still on 1.6( I thought that was where we were playing) I experienced a lot of data corruptions and bad replays. When I updated things cleared up after a turn.

OK Gentlemen, I'm shutting down and installing 1.602. I'll be back up in a jiff. See you all in a few. I'll send out the first turn when I'm done.

OK, I'm back up running 1.602. Turn is on it's way to dpstafford. I haven't gotten in touch with Scott lately today so we don't have our respective assignments worked out yet but that shouldn't take too long. I sent him an e-mail a little while ago.

Since this is a historical first turn, I'll let Dan put in our password and I'll go to bed. [:D]
