A bug that according to the only response I got about it after 1.6 is that it is to hard to fix.

Do Japanese officers on Japanese ships. LCU ect get replaced by allied ones? If not, what is the difference in the code that allows it to happen to one OOb but not the other?

Never saw an Allied officer take command of a Japanese unit of any kind. It does make you go "hmmmm", doesn't it?

Troubleshooting techniques would make me wonder how one OOb is immune while the other is not. It Just seems that you would just need to see what was different about the 2 programs running those OOB.

Don't think it's two seperate programs. It's probably down to ONE misplaced colon in a code line somewhere. I know I wouldn't want to debug that! [X(]

The fact that it doesnt happen to the Japanese would indicate to me from a troubleshooting standpoint, that it should be easier to find. It cant be in any common area of the program as it doesnt happen to the Japanese, even if a single program. It would seem that it must be in a line dealing with the allied OOB ( although I guess it could be a case where the command for allied replacements got added to a line in the Japanese replacement routine.)

Seems to me even if a single program that it would logically be broken into 2 or more sections, one for each specific command structure.

Do ABDA or British or Australian commands have the problem? All I am familiar with is American commanders being replaced.

I dont program, but I was a technician, seems troubleshooting would lead to a common source based on observable events. As I understand current programming , one makes sub routines to do each specific task. It would seem that the different military commands in the game might have seperate sub routines and one would be able to spend less time on those that dont exhibit the "bug" and could compare the potential problem routines with the ones that work with no known bug.

It just seems signifcant that it only seems to happen to one side.

It happens to all the Allies; I've seen British TF's commanded by IJA officers. Another fun bit is when sunk Australian cruisers come back as US-made cruisers, they're assigned to the Australian ARMY.

I've had US commanders of IJN ships.

Ok, if common to all routines then that should from a troubleshooting stand point help also depending on how the program is written. It has to be common to all subroutines. Specific code for each subroutine would not appear to cause it, it needs to be something that all subroutines use.

Though since it is common to all OOB, depending on how the code was done, this would explain the nightmare at finding it.

At least we know which branch of the forces is the stronger [:D]
