Went to the movies saw a trailer of upcoming movie "JARHEAD" .
Whos going to see this picture on Friday"? Will I be able to say, after seeing it that this is how it truly was in Saudi/Iraq/Kuwaitt and this is how the Marines are? Since I never served in the military.

I haven’t read the book and I won’t see the movie as I don’t want to read or see something that’s going to piss me off. I've read numerous reviews of the book to know that it’s a one-sided "biography" that I don’t agree with nor do I want to endorse by spending the money.

Wargamer.com has a similar thread and there has been some serious flames going on about it. Read more here: http://www.wargamer.com/forums/tm.asp?m=144090

A Marine’s review about the book can be found here: http://www.grose.us/books/jarhead.html Be sure to read the link about another Marine who served with the author!

My take is that I’ll go see a anti-war movie as long as it isn’t anti-military. Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down are good examples. According to many reader reviews, this book (and I would assume the movie as well) falls into anti-war/anti-military category.

Thanks for the sources Slick91 it seems Hollywood is up to no good on this one.

Just a point of view but I think tha a war game covering battles in Iraq/Afganistan would not be very interesting because things were so one sided.

HI Guys
I just got back from seeing this

it is not bad, you won't want to take the wife or kids with you, pretty strong barrack talk, a little too heavy on the self sex idea, but the idea behind the movie was good

didn't read the book, so don't know what he wrote or was thinking, but the movie carries the feeling

I would have to say, I felt at home, and understood the message
