It looks like it was destroyed on the ground, left wheel collapsed, nose in the dirt, I can also make out the rear wheel

Hence my previous question. It's almost certainly a staged propaganda picture, judging by the closeness of the Spitfire.

Not so sure, the spit could have just made a pass on the bomber over the english channel, and the ever perceptive front gunner (or pilot or bombardier.. whoever was in position) snapped the pic.

If he'd made a pass over that Heinkel, the crew would have been otherwise busy. Y'know, admiring the view through the new holes in fuselage, trying to keep themselves from leaking too much of the red stuff, putting on their parachutes...
