Currently I'm playing a game as Turkey. 1792 Scenario. The year is now 1806. Top three Glory scores are Spain: 2873, Sweden: 2385, Turkey 1855

The first five years as Turkey were spent strictly on development and heavy use of diplomats.

Diplomat goal #1 was to coup Poland. To do this I had to throw every bit of spare change I had into subsidizing the Poles....this makes them easier to coup, I believe. Unfortunately, Russia decided to call my bluff and began to throw 800$ a month at the Turks. This was amazing, because I kept checking the other countries out and the Russian economy still had over 2K bucks every turn...cheating AI!

Anyway, I couped Poland and gave her entirely to Prussia. This ain't easy to do with just one dip!

Diplomat goal #2 was to deny the troops of Naples to anyone...escpecially Spain. It took 6 years and 2 more dips to finally coup Naples. At the time she had 410,000 troops! Anyway, those poor Neapolitan masses would hardly reach the Po before my dips had them moonwalking back south. Heck, I had 4 armies and excluding garrison didn't have 400K troops.

Once militarily ready, I decided to settle some Turkish historical scores with Ivan. Ivan (historically) had for years been taking from the Turks a bit at a time. We finally taught ol' Suvarov that the bullet isn't such a lazy fellow.

Germany, France, Britain, and Russia look like patchwork quilts. France has just 4 provinces. Russia decided to surrender to everyone but me so while that was going on, the green was replaced here and there by blue-green, yellow, pink, and finally Turkish Khaki.

Game after game I see Spain and Sweden making huge gains while the traditional powers of Europe are laid low. Please squeeze that patch out soon.

one thing with the idea of the weak sisters growing large while the bullies grow weak

part of that is the player, if I want someone to do well, I can help them to, if only by not attacking them myself

More and more I see that the only way to keep the peons from becoming the masters is direct military action by myself. Britain needs some kind of modifier that keeps her from surrendering just because things have gone bad on the mainland.

Britain might look for peace if her economic woes got bad...because the people might demand it. But she wouldn't surrender without foreign troops in command of her home provinces. How'z that anthem go? Britons will never be slaves...
