KG, I just wanted you to know that I and a number of SPWAW fanatics still have the SPWAW convention in mind that you so kindly suggested and on which you have already worked so hard.

We will be ready! We will be there! Won't we guys? Let's hear from you! Are you going? I am!

Bill, I'm still hoping that this will happen May 3-5, 2002 in Charleston WV. Nothing has been set in stone yet, but the site for the proposed location is http://www.summitcenter.com . We're now only five months away from the tentative date, so we need some definite commitments soon. The room needs to be scheduled within the next couple of months, and the price I was quoted in August was $500 for two days. Visit the site, and let me know what you think.

Excellent, KG.

What about hotels? Are there places to stay that are reasonable and within walking distance of the convention center.

Airlines that arrive there? I'm determined to make it buddy, even if it is me and you.

And I'll make my contribution to help cover the cost of the convention room. I'm a poor old retired bus operator but this expense is worth it!

The official WV Division of Tourism site is http://www.callwva.com/ . The Summit Convention Center is located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of the Marriott, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn & a few others. The Charleston Town Center Mall & the Kanawha County Public Library are just a block or so away, along with the Park Place Cinemas. There is plenty to do & see within a few square-block area, and the city blocks here are pretty short. Yeager Airport, which is serviced at present by American & Northwest, is just 3 miles or so from downtown. We've got golf courses within ten miles or less, and a minor-league baseball team (the Charleston Alley Cats) whose ballpark is a 15-min. drive from the downtown area. If the Cats are in town that weekend, I'd like to get the picnic area set up for our group. The park has a great old-time atmosphere about it, with the train tracks running behind centerfield and a range of hills behind that. We've got your obligatory nightclubs & restaurants galore, Coonskin family park, which is located near the airport, and the State Capitol Complex/Cultural Center/Museum a mile or so from where we will be. Overall, it's a perfect & compact setting for us, and a great chance for you guys to bring your families for a West Virginia Getaway Weekend. Think about it, gents. You get your chance to meet & talk with Bill, possibly some other gaming notables (I'm still working on that), play some SPWaW in a H2H tourney, have some guest speakers, maybe get some media coverage (I'm working on that, too), and enjoy the opportunity to mingle with your fellow gamers and have a good time. Wild Bill has gone above & beyond with his support and enthusiasm for this event, and I hope you guys will help us make it a success.

Huffy, we're still flexible on a particular weekend, but, May seems to be the optimum choice . It that case it's gotta be the weekend of May 3-5, 2002. The others are not practicable due to other holidays and other events (Mother's day, Armed Forces Day & Memorial Day). This is the date we'll shoot for. I hope you can work it out to be here. If any of you want more info , besides what's being related here, e-mail me & we'll exchange phone numbers if you want. The basic info is all available on the web, but feel free to contact me.

I just talked to Bill, and you guys really need to get your act together and make plans to come to the convention. He is definitely coming, so don't miss your chance to meet the scenario master in person. I'm still working on getting Paul Vebber and the Man, David Heath, so give me some input.

KG, I aim to be there if the creeks don't rise (like they did last year in West Virginia). I want to meet these fellows who had a lot to do with putting this great game together. I might be able to learn something. (like perhapes winning a battle now and then) I think it would be a very informative and fun gathering for all SPWAW fans. I will be there, health and politics permitting.

KG has worked very hard on this project but he needs our support. He needs a clear commitment from us.

Things change and situations change. But if at this point, you feel this is something you really want to do and you are committed(DV) to being there, then speak up clearly and say so.

I'm glad to see some have done that. Let's do this thing and enjoy a group of fellow gamers who share our interests. It will be quite an event...WB
