Thanks for the recommendation of Crete by Anthony Beevor. I read it on holiday and am really looking forward to COTA now.

Question 1: Are we nearly there yet?

Question 2: Captured weapons - is it a feature? The book describes the use of captured Bofors guns at Maleme. Would be cool thing to have at some point if not this release.

Question 3: Are irregulars going to feature in the game?

YES. Sorry for the bevity of the answer but if I'm to live up to this answer I need to keep it short and sweet. [:)]

No not for this release.

Question 3: Are irregulars going to feature in the game?
Not as such, although there are a plethora of "odds and sods" type units that were scratched together by the Allies to defend Crete. We have focused on the initial invasion of Crete by the Germans and not on the subsequernt occupation. However, there is plenty of scope for an enterprising scenario designer to create one. We have heaps of units estabs, including Greek and Cretan police units that could be used for such a scenario.

My favourite is the Field Prison Company - I'm always thinking of the Dirty Dozen movie when I'm ordering them about :)

The East Front team are making good progress, but they still have a lot of work to do. I would estimate releasing the first East Front title 12 months after COTA. But then you never know.
