Hi all,

i was studing the numbers of Jap fighters and discovered, with some surprise that the Jacks are even better than the A6M5.....now my question is:
Regarding japanese production...is it usefull, in your opinion to concentrate a bit more on Jacks and produce some more Zekes? Something like 100 Jacks/month? so to equip with that fighter some of the Land Based Navy groups?

And what about DinahIII KAI? Is it any good at shooting down allied bombers or better to concentrate on Tonies/Tojos untill Franks come out?

thanks in advance

My goal is to equip all my land based navy fighters with Jacks. Or at least a good number of them. Maybe keep 6 groups in A6M2s for escort.

The Ki 46 dinahIII KAI has a ridiculous climb rate so I wouldn't rely on it to stop bombers, but I haven't tried yet. It's a two engines plane, so rather expensive to build. It's good speed and range may make it interesting as escort...
I wonder what this plane was historically intended for.

The Jack looks like the IJN Tony, even better.

I dont know this for a fact, but it appears to me the Ki46KAI is a fighter that recon groups can upgrade to. That appears to be the only redeeming feature of it. I could be wrong on this.

Go for it if you are playing with PDU! I think one thing to note is the need to switch from Nakajima to Mitsubishi engines. Since you will need to build A LOT of these things in 1943-44, be prepared for the large shift in engine production.

I don't have much experience with the DinahIII KAI but it doesn't seem particular useful. No armor, a manuever of 32, has a poor climb rate, and only a gun value of 12. [&:]

I haven't got that far in my PBM, but I'm planning on putting a sizable portion of IJN land-based fighter strength into J2M and producing only enough A6m5 to fill out CAGs.

Hasn't Jack got an extended range of only 4? .. most offputting imho. Though I guess you can use the dinah fighters as escorts .. they ought to have decent range and their speed is excellent..
