Well looks like the Turks want to be the test model
I sort of figured they would, so was already moving the new Army into place
Turkey DOW on me, while in the middle of a war with Aus, so, I get to close in and battle in Aus land
Hmmmmmm, maybe this is not a good test
713,871 Turks vs 307,687 French and Friends
Great battle field, poor lines of fire, poor supply and begin the battle outflanked already, oh joy

I got 5 Supply wagons to the North West, with about 7 Enemies Divs, well wasn't planning on using them for bait, but...
to the South East, had one Arty Div with some Cav, had to split one Div in half to cover all angles, which paid off, as a number of Turk Cav ended up roaming in and out to that side, new AI rule, they didn't suicide themslefs (not sure if I agree with the change, they could of broke my line)
the enemy kept climbing the hill to the south, my How's keep driving them back
soon, I had to start moving troops to the rear, to cover the back side, just as my 2 wagons made it to safety, the rear assualt began, but my troops were ready

of course, just when all is going well, the rains came, so much for firepower and range, plus with the lousy fields of fire, the lost of range really hurt
by the time night fell, the enemy had gave up, but too many healthly Cav floating around out there to break my lines, so I let them run, there is always next month
over all, light losses, 34,000 for them, 5,500 for me (mainly Supply troops, plus one risky Cav charge)
the HARDest part of these battles now, is waiting, you have to time the counter attack just right, or you are going to be hammered
but for the test, the How's passed with flying colors, I would use them in my armies
oh yea
the battle cost the Enemy -1200 + in morale, going from 900 + to over (?) -600

Howitzer's are fairly useless in 1.1. At least compared to regular artillery. You're lucky if you get 300 casualties on a first shot (I think my personal record is a little of 1k). How are they in 1.2? As a point of reference, I once killed about 8k troops in a single shot with
some heavy artillery. Regular artillery frequently can kill 3-4k on a first shot.

Well
that was part of the test
I was hopeing by showing I went into battle with a Full Corps of them, that I think they work
pure numbers I don't want to get into, as it is still a case of good or bad die rolls
but I will say, it still got a good chance to crush a unit that gets in front of it
(level of Upgrades will effect this of course)
they still don't have the pure Firepower of the Hv or normal Arty, but they can fire over top of another unit, and they don't take return fire
making them prefect for attacking other Arty, or Troops in line
I think they will still be a lesser used unit, but they have there uses
I think in a Human vs Human game, they would be deadly, vs the AI, they are nice to have
