Errors

Just a quick question here. I am replaying the 1974 season with the Cardinals. I have only played, or managed that is, seven games. But I have yet to see any errors, for the Cards or their opponents. Is this just a quirk? Just seems a little odd.

To anyone, are you finding the appropriate number of errors in your replays?

There are certainly errors in my replays... lack thereof had never stuck out to me, so I've never done the statistical analysis to determine if it was the correct number.

One problem I've noted is that the game seems to assume 2004-level errors, which means that there aren't enough errors in older associations, but that shouldn't be a dramatically pronounced effect for your 1974 club - its much more noticeable if you play in the dead-ball era or earlier.

You can modify the number of errors by adjusting a constant in the puresim.xml file.

Don't worry, you'll get a sufficient number of errors to keep you happy - particularly at just the right time to beat you.

Example: I'm tied 2-2 in the top of the ninth, one out, enemy runner on first. I had previously pinch hit for my second baseman and now have a reserve playing the position. Sure enough, he lets a ground ball go through the wickets, setting up runners on first and third with one out. Sac fly. Enemy closer gets 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth, and there I am with a loss.

I love errors.

Yeah, thanks for the reassurance on that. I have committed three in the last two games. In my current replay, the 74's Cards did go the first 11 games of the season without an error. I am seeing the CPU teams committ them at a normal level as well now.

Can't tell you how much I am liking this game. Did notice a little statistical "blip." I had three pitchers combine on a shoutout against the Phils. While it should not ge given credit to any of the three pitchers as an individual shutout, it should be listed in the Team Pitching as a Team shutout, and it is not. No biggie.

Maybe you should consider trading yourself for a better fielder... [;)]

Good eye - yes, I think the 'team shutout' is a summation of individual players' complete-game shutouts, at the moment.
