Plans for Award-Winning Series Include Update From Original Developer

Matrix Games is pleased to announce its plans for the recently acquired publishing right for the Operational Art of War series.

Matrix Games has reached an agreement with the original designer and developer of The Operational Art of War, Norm Koger, to assist in updating the most recent version of the engine to assure full compatibility with the latest Windows XP systems. Matrix Games plans to publish an updated version of the latest Operational Art of War engine, including some fixes and tweaks for issues that have become known since the last major release.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said, “The Operational Art of War has never been surpassed in its flexibility and adaptability to the full scope of 20th Century warfare. We are delighted that Norm Koger agreed to assist and advise us on this project to make sure that the updated version will receive some of the fixes and tweaks that have been asked for since Century of Warfare was released.”

Matrix Games plans to release further information in the near future on update and publishing plans and schedules for this title.

This is the best news for me. I think I've posted or emailed my ideas for naval and strategic warfare in TOAW as much as possible. I see no reason why this game can't have a fabulous naval and strategic component to it. I, who haven't even designed a scenario yet! (But I want to) I imagine fixing the bugs and loopholes would be the first task. That would get me interested in playing opponents from the ladder again. I'm elated to hear that Norm Koger is back on this project. I forget where I saw it, but there was a kind of sad post by him about how, regardless of how much he wanted to, he was contractually restrained from doing any more work on this game. His game project focusing on the Russo-Japanese war proved to me that he's not just interested in land combat. I'd love to hear what Norm wants to do with TOAW. Hopefully there will be a thread opening soon dedicated to this great game.
